I bought this the other day, the riffle was taken apart. When I took the trigger group off, this small guide fell out. Anybody has any idea where it goes?

Yes I already checked it but couldn't find the part. Also, when you compare the trigger assembly, mine looks different. On all Carcano trigger groups I saw, there is only a notch for the trigger but mine has the trigger and parts mounted on top. It does #### and click so I think it may have something to do with the feeding for the rounds.

What model do you have? Is it in 6.5 or 7.? Sorry can’t remember. Could the part be bent?

I don't even know what caliber, Have to measure tomorrow. Probably 6.5, the 7.35 are very rare, so either way I am fine.

I suspected the part maybe snapped off as part of the ammo feeding but there is no sign of it. I took a few guns apart in the past, it just fell out when I took off the trigger assembly - sh.. happens. As mentioned, it cocks and clicks and I was thinking about putting the one round block piece in anyways. Just be curious since the trigger group is not anything I can find on the www, possibly modified. Maybe a winner? Definitely looks beaten up but very much shootable. Of course I soaked everything in gun oil as first precaution.

You do know that what you've got, based on the trigger guard housing & triggers, is what is commonly called a "Cooey-Carcano" that has had a new barrel installed & is chambered in 6.5x54 M.S. & NOT for the 6.5 Carcano round, right? The triggers are different because there were (before some cretin cut-off the 2nd trigger) double set triggers installed to mimic the Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles that were popular back in the day.

It looks like because someone did not have the correct clip for it, he made one to fit the new rounds.

Just google it here on CGN; there's a lot of threads about them.

Yes, you are correct. It was not sold to me like that but I am happy now that you told me.

Despite the bad press on the Carcano-Cooeys, they actually shoot quite well for what they are. Very light rifle, so quite a bit of felt recoil and also short length of pull. An aftermarket rubber butt pad like the one for SKS's work well to deal with both.
