Carcano shooting

What bullet and how many grains of H4895 are you using?
I'm using the same powder and trying the ppu .268 bullets
Also loaded some of the .264 160 gr Hornadys to try
I want to find a decent load without too much experimenting as I only have 3/4 of a pound of H4895 left and i also use it to load for a Hakim and an ag42
Have a few pounds of 4064 left so may try some of that too. haven't seen any H4895 for sale in a long time and I thought i had more of it then i did :(

I am planning to use 27.0 grs, but have not yet done that.

I will see if I have some 4895 in the cabinet, as iam notmconcerned over the case capacity using h335, I know my old load was with 3031, I could experiment with that again as well.

Well the reloading came to a standstill about 10 cases in, I had run out of case lube before I started, So I decided to use my Hornady one shot spray lube that I normally reserve for straight wall pistol cases., It was taking a little more effort but still working. Until this case became stuck in the die. I have the stuck case remover but unfortunately the decapper is stuck inside the case neck not allowing me to use the stuck case removed tool.

I've had a couple stuck cases now with the PPU Carcano brass. Seems the rim is a LOT thinner than standard rifle rounds and tears out easily. The last stuck one I put the entire die in a small jar of WD40 for a few hours while I went for dinner. Came back to it and it damn near fell out of the die after the weasel-pee had worked its way all the way up the case. Now I don't skimp on the lube at all (also switched to Hornady or Lee case lube instead of the RCBS lube pad I had been using) and haven't had an issue since

I ended up having two in about 10, you are right about the rim being thinner, and pulling out of the shell holder easier, the #2 it suggest is too loose, I found a better fitting one in my bin that grips it alot better, not sure what brand it is though. Still need to pick up some case lube, my LGS was out so I'll check out Canadian Tire

Ive had no stuck cases BUT ill agree the rim is very thin.

...and as with all cartridges, the shellholder is a factor. Sometimes there are multiple shellholders from multiple manufacturers that are all specified as the "correct" one, yet there are small variations in them. Further, not all brass is constructed identically... I like to look within my collection of Lee, Lyman and RCBS shellholders and use the one with the best fit.

Well after finally getting some proper case lube yesterday, that are all sized, now. I resized alot of 6.5x54 MS Dominion brass as well, trimming it right now, is a little more of chore than the actual x52 but it's coming along nicely

I gravitated towards the hornady one shot wax, was very nice to work with and was my first time using a wax.

I checked my cabinets and what I thought was two pounds of 4895 was actually 4198, I'll give my 3031 a go here for 6 or 12 rounds and check for pressure, accuracy and or bullet tumble.

well I finally got around to loading up some of my NOE cast bullets.
