Carrying rifle on a snowmobile

Wild
The best over-snow firearm setup I can think of:

I saw one of these cruising through the bush in norther ontario this summer.. didnt have the machine gun on top but basicly same machine.. actually met up with the guy up the road a bit.. was a dentist from somewhere in the states.. ####in americans I tell yea..

I use a sling and over the shoulder,

Yep, that's what my buddy and I used to do when we were hunting coyotes and wolves years back. We use to put a piece of black electrical tape over the muzzle to keep snow out and a neoprene stretch scope cover over the scope as well. You could remove the scope cover quick if needed and shoot right through the tape.

I mount mine just like the Skandic in HeadDamge's post. same machine too, so the backrest helps for a tie-down point.

Is it just me or is a snowmachine needing some reengineering , unlike a quad with front racks back racks ball hitch , you cant carry anything on it

Just like road vehicles, there are different types of snowmobiles. There are single seat sport models, two up tourers and more utility based and off trail etc. The more utility/off trail models tend to have the most luggage carrying/towing capacity. They usually feature racks, larger tracks and wider skis for better flotation. There is even an Arctic Cat model with winch and ball hitch if you so inclined.

And travel at the same speed, start in cold weather, be as warm..........,
thanks, but I'll take my snowmobile over a quad any day in winter, at least during the real winters we get here.

Yea... I'm definitely agreeing with that! The quad conversions, like most conversions make it do everything... But nothing well.
I'll take a snowmobile over a quad any day! 2 strokes will start if you can take the cold, 4 strokes will not

I have the kolpin6.0 but I have to strap it to my sleigh which is not my favorite way to transport it. Not any room on my summit.
I have to have a chainsaw strapped to the rear of the tunnel.

My 4 stroke quad starts every time whether it's 30 or -30 before windchill. Why wouldn't it?

I was going to buy tracks for the Grizzly but then I took a look at sleds on Kijiji. Why spend $3,000 on used tracks when you can get 96-98 Vmax 600 touring sleds with 7,500 kms for $1,250ish? Tracks for quads are far too expensive and really need to come down in price...

Those sleds are awesome as well. I had a short track version years ago and, aside from having too much power to get going on slick ice, they're wicked.

I had a 4 stroke Yamaha sled for a few years up North. It was a miserable ##### to start in the cold. Pretty much had to have it plugged in or you were doomed.

I carry mine in a leather scabbard on the left side of the hood within reach, works well for me, I shoot left and my right hand is still available to get on the throttle if need be.

I use an eberstock day pack with scabbard when sledding, but I ride standing up and don't think it would work that well if you ride sitting down.

You have the wrong sled if that's the case. I built a mount that bolts my Kolpin to the side of my cargo rack. My old long track carries a shootin iron, chain saw, chain saw jug, snow shoes, Swede saw, axe and a milk crate for misc all in the cargo rack on top of the long track tunnel. She's no speed demon topping out around 70mph on pack but I'm a putter these days anyhow. She pulls a sled full of wood and backs away from the fuel tanks after a fill.
There are sleds built for work and sleds built for play.
You don't pull a travel trailer with a Camaro! ;)

If I remember to pack a picture taker I'll get one when I go for wood today.
