Catastrophic Sig Sauer slide fail - what do I do? FINAL UPDATE in post 48

Let me guess - you're talking about another 1911 manufacturer right? The only failures I've seen at IPSC are 1911s.
just talking in general, and not meaning complete failures either, guys complaining about a crunchy or twangy trigger on the composites too its accepted you live with it but the heavy yet smooth pull on the norc is a deal breaker lol. I just think norcs get no love.

Mosquito is not actually made by SIG Sauer.
It is made by German Sport Guns GmbH, an airsoft wholesaler located in Ense-Höingen, Germany.
All Mosquito are made to SIG's specifications, but made with airsoft pot metals and SIG put only their name on it.

Glad you're in whole piece, BAAC. :)

I was considering getting a sig actually. After knowing this kind of catastrophic failure is a well known issue but it still exists, let alone they refuse to take care of Canadians. HELL NO!

From what I understand now, it was with that one particular slide on the Mosquito (made by GSG) for two or three years. It's been fixed in the new ones. I just got 'lucky'.

Sig wouldn't do squat but M.D. Charlton would, so that saved things. I love my Sigs. I think you're cool if you were looking at anything other than an older Mosquito.

Final Update:

So, what began on the 10th is fixed by the 16th. The repaired pistol arrived by courier from M.D. Charlton just now. It might just be my imagination, but the gun feels a little heavier - not tons, but a little. I would guess that there are an extra couple of ounces in the slide. Also new sights and new springs installed.

Interestingly, it also has 'Sig Sauer, Inc. Exeter NH', written on the other side of the slide. I wonder if Sig got sick of the issues and just started making the slides in-house?

What began as a pretty crappy experience has turned around. Thanks for everyone's advice and input.

Glad it worked out for you but I was put off by SIG USA's response to my failure..
So now I'm thinking what would happen if I bought a 226 or other SIG product.. as much as I like the product I will pass..
Once burned twice shy

Agreed.
A friend of mine had the slide rail crack on the frame. Sig blamed him because he was shooting reloads and told him to get lost. No compensation.
I wouldn't buy sig either.

That's understandable - I wasn't very impressed with the lukewarm Sig US response either.

It's sad that I'm surprised when I get good service now. At least there is a Canadian company Sig owners can go to so they don't have to deal with the US.

In my fantasies I imagine a market full of Canadian gun manufacturers and ammo makers... And concealed carry laws. And no prohib status... Sorry, I'm back now.

This is pretty interesting. Was never a fan of the Sigs only because of grip not quality. Even considered a mosquito at one time. Glad I didn't go for it. Would be interested to know if the truly are owned by umarex now.
