I cant find CCI .22lr anywhere locally. This has been the case for some time now..the hoarding not so bad last summer though, i could still find stingers pretty cheap, CCI standards, quiets, mini mags...but now...the shelves are all empty and the prices are high. Yesterday, i bought a few small 50 boxes of rem subsonics for 6.99 each!! Ridiculous. The hoarding has reached this area unfortunately, the local CT had 16 boxes of fed bulks, i never got there on time, a week later, they where all gone. There is a place that sells cb’s but at 13-14$ a box of 100’s...for cb’s...yeah right..stick them you know where. I know where to get some blazers but the guys leave them off the shelf, you have to know people...man it’s crazy.
When will things go back to normal...quick math....22lr production is 4.2 billion rounds a year...but there are aprox 50 million households in the usa that own guns...if 10% hoard...that’s 5 million people hoarding (conservatively omitting the rest of the world)...if they want to stock up to 20 k rounds (average amount some want way more) thats 100 billion rounds (excluding normal consumption) so how many years will it take to satisfy those hoarders? 100/4.2 = 24 years....minimum.
There are several factors that could be studied further i.e the 5 million hoarders...but conservatively omitting the very significant normal .22lr consumption and the rest of the world’s hoarding should easily compensate any discrepancy in fact i believe the estimation is quite conservative.
