Yup, I am nhot looking forward to buying my next lot though. I thought $3.99\50 was bad....
The difference being Stingers aren't a glorified pellet gun. Really though, where are the dozen or so people that shoot .17M2?
What good is a great group if the animal runs away wounded? I don't shoot paper with rifles outside of sighting them in and having a bit of fun. If there is a dying cartridge out there it's the .17M2. The HMR on the other hand is a great round IMO.

If the rifle isn't capable of good groups,it isn't accurate enough to ensure vital hits.If you don't make vital hits, you will end up with wounded animals.
Both shoot the same bullet,only at different velocities.What the 17mach2 can do at 125 yards,the 17hmr can do at 175 yards.

I really doubt that. .17s bleed velocity, and exponentially energy. I hit a badger with 4 .17 HMR at 100-120m before the thing stopped. Aside from shooting it in the eyeballs I couldn't have placed the rounds better.
Stingers are cool until you realize that a lot of rimfires won't shoot them with a damn (or any other hyper velocity rounds). That being said, don't discount vipers and Yellowjackets (remington). They make a nice "pop" too! The only thing that turns me off about the .17's is the price of the ammo. No way to cut costs with reloading, etc.
I didn't buy the 17Mach2 to shoot 25lb badgers at over 100 yards.I wouldn't use a 22lr to shoot badgers at over 100 yards either,even with stingers. I bought the 17mach2 to shoot ground squirrels ,crows and magpies,at distances out to a maximum of 150 yards,where it is much more accurate than any 22lr (that I have owned) shooting stingers.At 150 yards,the 17mach2 still has plenty of energy remaining to provide clean kills on those species.
Velocitors provide fairly clean kills compared to any .17 HM2 at any range under 200m. Otherwise I agree. I won't argue the accuracy of the cartridge given it's great rack record and my personal experiences. .25" at 50m is not too shabby for a stock rifle.
"...do manage to find it..." How well do they shoot? Not all .22's will shoot 'em well. Mind you, that's no different than any .22 ammo. Your local gun shop can order as much as you want. Be prepared to pay up front.

Don't know at what distance. Anyway, the Stingers and Expeditors penetrated one side. The Yellow Jackets went right through both sides.

"...Funny since the Yellow Jackets have..." Yep. I think it has to do with the wee drop of whatever it is in the hollow point. Some kind of hard stuff. snicker. Might be epoxy. Mind you, the slightly lower velocity might allow the bullet to stabilize faster. That'll allow more penetration. I'm guessing, of course.
Yellow Jackets do thump a ground hog hard though. My Cooey 64 just happens to like 'em. Doesn't like either of the other two. Still have the part boxes.
