CCI's new Quiet-22 ammo

I wouldn't exactly call this stuff 'new'. My dad has been using it for a couple of years now to shoot squirrels at the cottage.

Your dad has never shot these... they are a brand new load... he likely was shooting CB Longs.

Any dealers have an idea when these might become available?

I asked my local retailer to order these in... he got back to me and said that the distributor promised them by the first week of April... they are already on sale in the USA and I have been following a thread on RFC, where they are being tested...

I built a gun specifically for these loads... they are a perfect quiet small game round at close range (which is most of the time for grouse and rabbits)... the beauty is that the 40 grain bullet @710 fps has 30% more energy than the 29 grain CB long... this makes it a very functional small game round... considering that we hunted grouse and hares for over thirty years with Sheridan C9 .20 caliber rifles netting 13 ft/lb and HB20 pistols netting 7.5 ft/lb. The rifle below is dedicated to the Quiet-LR;

hoytcanon...I've been looking at the FV-SR and was wondering if it dropped in perfectly to your royal evo...was any minor fitting work needed?

Thanks

I shot CCI CB shorts quite a bit...mainly because they are the only CB caps I've been able to find for a long time locally (Edmonton). I would prefer to shoot a long cased cartridge so as to not get a lead build in the chamber from the shorts that may eventually make the longer, standard length cartridges hard to chamber. I look forward to these! :)

Yes the Savage 93's/MKII's drop right in to Boyd's factory milling... all new guns are the "E" version receiver. Savage switched the receiver specs mid-2008 from the older "non-E" version receivers. An "E" receiver measures 7 3/4" front to back the older "non-E" version measures 7 1/4" front to back... Boyd's inletting is for the newer "E" version... the older non-E receivers will require more inletting for them to fit... but since the FV-SR is a new model, all of them are the new "E" version and will drop right in... so you are good to go! :)

Based on how inconsistent CB longs are accuracy-wise, I'm not 100% sure I'd be building a rifle for these new loads until I knew how they shot. I read somewhere that CB longs have no powder, just primer.....?

Think I'll take a look over on RFC, see how they're shooting.

I have shot some Aguila Super Colibri 20 gr 22 LR out of a single shot Cooey and the only sound you hear is the hammer falling - after the first round I actually removed the bolt and checked for a squib - there was none - they reported to be in the 500f/s range.

I think it's likely the CCI quiets would have at least a little bit of powder since they are advertising 710 FPS with a 40gr bullet.
