The CDTSA 3-Gun team is looking for anyone who is interested in helping out with running our for 2019!

Anyone who wants to do any of the following:
- Design Stages
- Build Props
- Be an R/O
- Set Up
- Tear Down
- Work Hard (well, not that hard) for Zero Pay
- Have fun working with a great group of people who put on great events

Please PM me!

Hey, it's not ZERO pay! Your match fees are waived! Lol.

And you get to hear guys complain about having to shoot slugs on your stage. That's pay by itself :)

Maybe if CDTSA would open up new memberships...

I'm sure the cap will be a topic of discussion at the upcoming AGM. Are you on the waitlist? Once the renewal period for existing members has ended (end of January), they will start calling people who have been waitlisted.

And, as always, CDTSA events are also open to non-members.

Once you have your dates out, I will see what i can do. I'm also on your FB page of course.

Awesome. Those dates should be coming out in the next couple of weeks. We need to get the 2019 board in place (at the upcoming AGM), then we can get the dates set.

BTSA removed their membership cap, claiming the new online registration allowed them to deal with added capacity. I realize that CDTSA (one range) is much closer to Calgary so probably has huge population pressure. Yes I’m on waitlist. Everything I’ve heard is thay it can take years to get in. I know matches are public but I need practice range and league days too, will see where I can get in and what works, happy to volunteer at that time.

BTSA has a 3 gun league twice a month from April to October. And you don't have to me a member to come.

Shotgun mega stage it is!

I kid.

I mean, it will probably happen, but still.

We like shooting shotguns. :) I don't personally see the point of shooting 2 gun matches.

Well 3 gun is the off shoot of 2 gun. Shotguns were introduced to include LE members as the 2 gun matches were designed for MIL personnel. If we want to keep with tradition then all shotgun work should be slugs or buckshot.

For a lot of folks having to buy a third gun that they don't need or enjoy is what keeps them from competing. What's really disappointing is that most 3 gun matches end up being a shotgun match. Where the shooters who can run their shotguns the fastest and smoothest usually score very well. That's hardly the spirit of 3 gun competition. The use of a pistol and a rifle makes for faster stages and less required equipment.

" What's really disappointing is that most 3 gun matches end up being a shotgun match. "

That's a worthwhile point of discussion.

At your local matches; How many shotgun targets per stage is considered normal?

" There's usually a very heavy shotgun stage with 20 or so targets. "

Yeah. That definitely becomes a quad-loading competition.

I've shot some 3-gun matches where there was never more than 10 shotgun targets on any one stage.
Very little quad-loading was needed.

I guess it depends on what the match directors are into.
