Centaure +P+ 9mm ammo

RUAG makes a +P+ round in 9mm specifically for sub guns... They warm all buyers that it will KILL a glock in 200 rounds or less...

How can I contact Centaure...did a web search....

They don't seem to have a website, but this address - or some variation on it - pops up here and there on the web.

I guess Laval and St-Vincent-de-Paul are basically the same thing. I don't know as I live on the other side of the country.

I found another new 9mm round that I haven't picked up before. Hunter's in Surrey had some of these premium Remington Golden Sabers.

Anybody know what is meant by "High Performance Jacket", other than marketing? I have the Remington catalog, so I suppose I could just go look it up :). It's interesting that the jacket is brass rather than copper. Does anyone know what the effect of that is?

And now for the bad news.... they are CRAZY expensive! The good news is that all ammo was 20% off when my girlfriend and I were there on Saturday, so it was more like $26 for 25 rounds. Buck a bullet 9mm!! (on sale ) I just wanted to have a few, just to see what the top of the line looks like.

Here are some of the other Remington products and their prices these days. (Other two boxes are boxes of 50, obviously. The 115gr. MC is like $11.99 for 50).

In these photos you can see that the overall length of the Golden Sabres is the same as the +P hollow-points. The Golden Sabres are 147gr. though, and the hole for the hollowpoint is bigger. (left to right: Golden Saber; +P hollow; 115gr. JHP; 147gr. MC; 115gr. MC)

I'm no ammo expert, and there is probably an easy explanation for this, but what is with the red around the primer on the Golden Sabers, green on the +P's, and nothing on the standard variety ammo?

I've shot a few of these out of my pistol and they are pretty wicked.I believe that the RCMP were/are? using this ammo for their duty load. I am not sure whether the high performance jacket has any specific meaning or if is bonded to the core or perferated to allow for consistant expansion. It is a shame that it is so pricey because it is quite fun to shoot.

Last I checked the queens cowboys were using Winchester Ranger 147 grn for their duty loads.

Commercially produced HP is expensive, that's why people typically don't use it very often. They will function test it in their firearm, and then use it as carry ammo.

The red and green on the high end rounds would likely be some type of sealant to prevent moisture from entering the cartridge. Rounds produced for the military are usually sealed like that, and often at the case mouth where the bulet enters the case.
