No offence but your pretty much all wrong about the optics and vests. For optics it's persanel choice, you can buy and put anything you want on as ling as you have some sort of cf optic on you weather it's the elcan or the battle sight and the odd guy gets issued something diff. As for vests, there are two companies other than cf crap you can wear, at least for Rcr, pickles can pretty much rock w/e they want same with the frenchies. This isn't just crap comming out my ass, I was on the battlegroup that's leaving this week and did all work up training until I couldn't get medicaly cleared from breaking my back a year ago and eye damage from the same time. As far as those photos go, I'm gonna say RCMP possibly
Angry,
CivPol got issued the CF vests and LBV's back in 2007-08. Before that, we had to waer the gray RCMP entry vests like you see the guy wearing in the second pic. When I first arrived, we were issued the RCMP gray's (Tac entry vest and gray tactical uniform). It was obviously impractical for the environment. That's actually my contingent in that pic.
In the middle our tour, that's when we got the CF CadPat vests and Tan combats.
Well I'll attempt to dissect this. Things may have changed since the last time I was over there, but you can't just "rock whatever you want". Maybe your CoC in the battle group says it's acceptable for you to use a none issue sight as long as you had something issue with you, but that's your CoC's say so. Other organizations are tighter controlled.
Everyone who's been over there knows that what the OMLT does is different from the BG and different from PRT and different from KAF....it definitely depends on what organization you belong to.
Yes but I've never seen a police officer wearing the full CF uniform, RCMP or otherwise. Were you with the PRT for the first half of 08?
Yes, I was there at the beginning of 08.
As for the current deployment. My son is leaving with elements of the OMLT and yes, he can wear pretty much anything. I was pretty surprised to hear that, because the BG and elements at the PRT when I was there, had to adhere to strict rules on what they could deploy.
That said, I never saw any Canadians "rocking" any Trijicon ACOGs...most of them were using EOTechs...times are changing for the better.
