If no one knows then I'll find out next Thursday, but does anyone know what the qualifications for CF C7 prone at 100m are? I know 10cm is "Pass", but I'm not sure about the rest.

Not quite sure what you mean.You looking for minimum group size at 100m prone?Or are you trying to find out what pass is for a PWT (1 or 2)?

Good question.
If it's PWT you have to get a 40 (50?) for Non-Combat Arms and 60 for Primary Combat Arms.

If it's PWT-80 you have to get a 40 (50?) for Non-Combat Arms and 60 for Primary Combat Arms.

PWT? As far as I know we qualify by group size at 100m Prone. If I'm not making sense I'll try to get more info, but I mean:
10cm=Pass
What is "expert"?

PWT = Personal Wpn Test

No you zero at 100m prone, you dont qualify ( you qualify from the different postions and well ranges after you zero ). For Combat Arms ( Guys that be using the C7 the most ) you must achieve a group size of less then 10cm to carry on with the PWT's.

PWT LVL 1 is zeroing, and shooting from 4 postions at 100m, LVL 2 is same as 1 but done at 200m, w/o any zeroing and suppose to shoot in a fire trench if the range got it, and LVL 3 is well the one that Infantry must do its the 300m shoot with all 4 firing postions ( standing, Kneeling, Prone, Sitting ) BUT you do a run down from the 400m mount to the 300 prone, 200 kneeling or sitting, 100 standing, and then advance from 75 to 50 double tap and 25m you have 2 3rd burst.

Expert is well I call it Cross Rifle w/ Crown, Marksman is cross rifles sw/o crown....You get them when you do your LVL 3 shoot.

Wow, you remember all that? Impressive! I did it six times and still didn't remember the drill!!! But I got my Marksman's...

Yeah I shot it many times and I worked alot as Safety Driver...

Oh ok, so your qualification doesn't depend on one shoot. How hard is it to qualify expert? Do you just need to pass all those mentioned?

Experts is a 75/80 I believe. A Marksmans was 70 and a pass for the Infantry was 60.
All you do is score the score and you go from there. You wanna know how to cook the score? ;)

Well If you are not combat arms you only goto LVL 2, But Combat Arms goes to LVL 3 and LVL 3 is pretty much your test ( rest is your work up to LVL 3 (Pending your Combat Arms )), Becuase NO sight adjustments allowed, no zeroing. Well I forget the points needed to pass, fail, Qualify expert, etc.

Been 3 years since i did small arms coaching.

Thanks for the information.
Cook the scores? Sure :D.
If it happens you don't shoot well on your "test", does your re-qualification score at the end of the year change your status (i.e. Expert)?

First off, you need at least a 60 to stay in the game. Less than that and you FTQ for PCA. As for cooking the score, never did it myself, I thought it was a dishonourable thing to do, but its so damn easy. I know of guys doing it. But I never witnessed it.

There that oughtta keep the meatheads off my back. ;)

Seriously though, I didn't mind MPs, they were okay. Well, they never caught me doing anything wrong anyways...

BTW using the 5.56mm Bic Pen or Pencil doesn't work well with figure 11 or 12's because the cardboard is very thick and it object breaks. Unless Its on a 4 foot screen which mostley used for zeroing. Mostley use the Fig 11 for the PWT lvl 3. Also I believe passing people by miss counting is un sportman ship or using the 5.56mm Bic Pen.

Yeah, we put them on the pull downs and fixed 'em up with the target tape. When we were doing the Machine Gunner's course we would stake 'em up on the range and then let 'em have it. One guy I knew could take out a section sized patrol at over 900m with the C6.

/me pulls out note pad.

Is that so? hum, might be worth looking into... ;)

Anyways, Maybe its different for CSS troops, but what I saw at out last range ex (29SEP06-1OCT06) was that PWT1 Didn't count towards marksmen, you oly had to pass it. You had to score 46 and up on PWT2 to qualify marksmen and there was no indication about any sort of "expert" level.

I will look into it, as many of my troops shot exceptionnaly well.:dancingbanana:

I believe Infantry are the only ones that gotta do PWT LVL 3.

Maple Leaf Pilgrim its easy to take out a section size patrol at 900m, we could take out a platoon at 1400m, SF is a fine piece of kit, 20rd burst and treversing you could make easy work of them...I believe the beaten zone for a C6 in the SF at like 1500m is like 20m by 50m, so treverse and you can cover 200m easy, now take that 30 guys are 5 -10m apart thats only 150-300m of ground they cover.

You don't understand. He wasn't using the C2 sight, just a Plt. MMG. role. He was eyeballing it off off a knoll at 900m into fig. 11s & 12s with a bipod, no C2, no markers, no diagram. Depending upon the approach geometry and formation you could have a quick zipper with an awesome round density or or you could be looking at a round density of next to nothing in the beaten zone. I remember the instructor telling me its not just how far between the targets, but how far between the bullets...

Remember bouncing the .50 rounds over the hill into the dead zone? Man that was some unreal stuff.

Well effective range for a C6 in the light role is 800m, 900m isn't really pushing it.
