CF Qualifications (Longshot?)

For the record, we in the CF are terrible on OPSEC. We don't practice it much, send classified email on the DIN and general chat about stuff that we shouldn't. The army is about to make some big moves on OPSEC in the immediate future to include clamping down on blogging, unclass traffice and control of documents. I have seen how bad we have become first hand...

Yeah, you guys have been pretty chatty in the last few years. Hey, why not? the last time we had to worry about OPSEC was when? Korea? Everything since then has been *Hurk* bluehat work until you hit Afghan.

In any case, the PWT is going to change in about 6 months. It will not change much from the view of this discussion but it will have a reflexive shooting program as part of the deployment training...

Relex shooting... About frikkin' time!

Problem is that it is now putting lives at risk...except we don't really believe it until it is demonstrated by our counter intelligence people. As with alot of things...we are relearning the basics....

Oh, buddy, I know its putting lives at risk, like I said, its the first shooting war that we have had to worry about OPSEC since Korea. The basis are pretty easy to work out. We just have to tell our guys that the more they talk the worse it is for 'em. Kinda like blading buddy 'cause he snuck out to the Canex when he was CTB. Hell C.I. could even get the granddads who were in WWII to tell their family about how the loose lips sinks ships campaign saved one metric #### ton of sailors' and soldiers' lives on the Trans Atlantic run. Young soldiers listen to thier old grandpas who were warriors. I know I did. :)

Well, lets see how you do in the new one...with the reflexive shooting as well as the PWT3 with night sup that has to be done before deployment...
Morph you seem like a good guy and i am really not trying to "flame" anything I am not worried about me, and my abilities I am worried about the guy next to me (COVERING MY ASS) Sometimes I may be cynical but i am not disloyal
I welcome any new challenges that the CF offers me in that respect.

The CF in the past has always been a step ahead of the commonwealth and the US (who did the US look at for assistance in developing their sniper course...US.... CANADA.) You can read that in the history books or watch on discovery.

No worries...I don't even know you! In reality we have not been a step ahead of much these last couple of decades.....in fact, we are relearning the basics in Afghanistan. The good thing is we are getting back to brass tacks....the bad thing is we should never have forgotten the lessons that were learned in blood from past warriors....

It is a good time to join the military....enjoy the ride while it lasts...

Cheers

the PWT is easy, the night shoot still has some light all you look for it white then shoot the thing. I never failed any of the PWT's in my life. Guess its talent;) If you want to know anything about joinging the CF PM me, I just got out recently.

If the night sup is run properly then the targets are suppossed to be draped in hessian to hide the distinct figure 11 outline and blatant un-enemy looking whiteness. It should be stapled on in back and draped over top so you can still score the holes after.

A lot of people also do not understand shooting at the "limit of nightvision" or LNV for the test. You should go up to your target at the butts, walk back to the firing point (depending on the night it might be 15 meters it might be 50)until you just see the targets, and then engage when appropriate. Too many range staff listen to people with crap night vision whining and do retarded things like tape glow sticks to the target, launch flares, or use vehicle lights on the targets. The whole ni sup is also supposed to be fired in double taps which people often cheat on.

In my experience people shooting this test often either score 10/10s or fail miserably. I guess some people just have really bad night vision.

I know one guy that always cheats I mean scores perfect on them;)

Even in the Militia infantry with only hit the range once a year...for the few rounds we get we cant even hit nothing with them.

"...Cross Rifle w/ Crown..." That'd be or used to be a Cadet badge. Not exactly 'expert' considering all shooting was done prone and could be done indoors with a .22.

Well, armies used to qualify with muskets too, but times change. I don't think there's any relation to historical cadet badges intended.

Remember boys and girls, if you pass your PWT 2 but do not score Marksman than you are a "First Class Shot". Wear those cross rifles with pride:redface:

From what I saw and what the guys tell me, scoring 50+ really isn't all that hard, and "Marksman" is pretty easy to score.

lots of factors play into shooting the PWT 3

most the elcans are ####ty and they go down fast

How qualified are you to be making this statement? Are you just repeating what somebody else is saying? or do you have personnal experience with the C79?

I am by no means an expert, but from my experience and research, the problems with the CF issued C79 were related to the mount. And this was corrected on the A1-A2 variant.

I have seen people having problems with their sights on the PWT 3 last week. They never checked the screw on the sight and they subsequently fell off the rifle on the run. You can hardly blame the C79A2 for that...
