CFB Petawawa PR Match 2 - 17-18 Oct 2015 - Debrief Here - Results UP

Four more days! Don't forget to bring enough food and water to last you through the day, and since it looks like it's raining, bring rain gear for you and something to protect your pack and rifle, they will be out in the rain while you're not shooting.

EEK!!!! you said the "R" word!!!

Bad Bad Bad schumy!!!

No worry, I learned from the last clinic! My event tent is coming with me!!!!

As my old basic training Sgt said = shut your mouth and you'll be water tight!!! LMAO!!!

Hoo-Ha!!!!

There will be enough room in the butts to store gear out of the rain for the people working the butts if they want. Good news ..as these ones have viewing ports built into the wall facing the berm so the person on the target can watch the bullet impact . If anyone has a helmet please bring it along and an event tent can be set up where the vehicles will be parked if you want .We will be using different firing points so it wont be much use to you when you are firing though.

As we get closer, it's time for more reminders:

* Bring your lunch / sandwich/ bagel with your vehicle and range rucksack. We won't have time to drive BACK into base/town/Timmy's for lunch
* If you don't bring your lunch, you might have to settle for a gas station sandwich; I will let your imagination take over for that sandwich quality
* Bring beef jerky and leave it in your range rucksack, bring different flavours since jerky is the go-to snack for shooters
* Bring along the right foul weather gear, and a small tarp to cover your kit when you are downrange doing your butts duties
* Got a helmet? Bring it along. I like using my own kevlar helmet (bought a MICH or ACH and replaced the old pads with new ones) since it ain't as smelly
* We are at Bravo Range (as far as I know Wednesday 1040 hrs) so it's a long drive back to base

It's fall and the weather shows it! Dress for it and prepare for it! :)
Bring a ziploc bag or two, for your score cards on the Sunday.

Cheers,

Barney

Very exciting!!!!!!! This weather is crippling for the arthritis but I'm ecstatic. I haven't been shooting in almost two years.

Majorly disappointed that I can not make it to this (or the next CQB).

Hope you guys have decent weather and a great time!

Speaking from personal experience Saturday get a sandwich from subway, they open early enough. Sunday Timmies is your best bet for food. The gas station "sandwich" tastes like plastic wrap it comes in, on the up side it will leave your body with great ease probably sooner than you expected it to.

Also if you bring a tarp make sure you have not shot it previously as that will reduce its rain repealing qualities.

As always looking forward the drive up to Pet!

Heading up late tonight. Looking forward to seeing the usual gang and putting some rounds down range!

Maybe there'll be some prime rib left for me this time!

The Closet Commando team will be starting the road trip at noon today!

We have learned from past experiences, driving in from Toronto in the middle of the night is not fun!

Sorry to hear you can not make it John@.

Woo-Ho!!! Let the fun begin!

Actually we are meeting across the street from the firehall , there is a large white bldg. p-141 with 5 large garage doors . DONT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DOORS .....there is a large parking lot beside the bldg.
Come onto base and make the first right and bldg. p-141 is across the street from the firehall on your left.

Well its 0547 sat morning and its snowing outside ....lol .Welcome to the Ottawa Valley !! ...

Wonderful weekend. The weather sucked. It was cold with flurries and ####ty and wet. Perfect weather to find out your set up doesn't work in real conditions.

Anyone who is interested in precision shooting should definetly get involved in these clinics. Word of advice, .223 Rem with 55 gr bullets is going to have a tough time competing against the fancy guns, in .308, when shooting DMR style.

I agree. Been to other clinics. 223 with 75 amax can do the trick.

Absolutely great weekend. Weather was cooperative and the crew amazing. Big thank you goes out to Barney and Morgan. The prime rib would make it worth the trip alone. Thanks again. Kit evolving begins now!!!!

Ohhh what a weekend! All I'm gonna say is thank god for heated seats, I unfroze on the drive back.

All in all it was a good clinic, we all got to learn so much about our rifles, our kits, our cold weather gear :D and most importantly, our shooting.

Thank you Barney for spending time with us noobs. A big shout out to Morgan for setting us up with the range, and for the sentry that braved the cold for two days so that we get to shoot!

Time for some much needed sleep!
