Some of the automated ranges at Bisley aren't too bad,like the FIBUA and MOVERS(you still have to mark them yourself) but the one in Pucka is by far the best i've been on.

Yeah Pucka was quite impressive. I got into the control box briefly and the control software actually looked easy to program quickly and was amazingly detailed in the results it could generate. The best feature though for combat marksmanship is the reliable fall-when-hit sensors. Nothing like immediate feed back for success in training. My ideal system would also allow a run up to the firing point so its not a totally static range.

Bisley's systems worked great considering their age. but then each range there had a dedicated operator assigned and maintenance was well up kept. Simple yet effective.

Yeah I think the only drawback in Pucka was that you couldn't run directly up!

I liked being searched after every shoot. The CF Tac Vest was a huge PITA for the range staff. Stupid little pockets everywhere.

They were definately anal about the ammo!Nobody in their right mind would steal that crap anyways.

With the working group in progress what do you think 2011 is going to look like?

My inner cerebrum is teling me that the gun fighter drills will include a little more emphasis on deliberate style serials. Otherwise I suspect we won't observe a significantly different CFSAC 2011.

The main problem I have with some of the matches is zero feedback to the shooter until after the match is over.

But that is application fire per CFOSP - they did follow it to the bone.
