Well folks, the shoot was a blast! As I type this, most of the group should still be out there. The Wife and I elected to head home last night already, but not before we had a great time. I want to thank all those who came out, Captain2K_ca for helping me organize and getting us the land, and to the gophers who readily sat in our cross hairs.
C2K and DaveMachine met us in town and after a quick bite we were off. We drove out together, and man don't let anybody ever tell you driving through Saskatchewan is boring. There are plenty of gophers on the highway to keep things fun! We set up some signs and then went out to the campsite. Whie I was still setting up my tent, C2K already blasted his first gopher with his shotgun. After that, the wackiness ensued. We did however discover you need appox. 1 gallon of gasoline to light wet firewood, which didn't exactly turn out as planned, but you can ask C2K about that one.
Some rain blew in and shortly after, we went down to the makeshift range to sight in and shoot a few rats. Some of the others started to pull pulled in after that, and Andrewe and his lovely wife were first. They had the coolest little pop-up trailer that reminds him of Snoopy's dog house. Tripalm, SV7772, Davemachine, Captain2K_ca , Andrewe and myself made up the Gunnutz, and Andrewe's, C2K's and my wife showed us all how it was done. C2K's two cousins also joined us, and the result was a camp of 11 people. We shot until 9:00 Friday night, and then the BS'ing session around the fire started. What a great night.
Saturday started beautiful and clear. We got the fire going at sun up and ate breakfast. But before we could get too excited, the rain blew in. It socked us in for several hours, but that didn't stop the more hearty members. Through out the Morning, several broke into small groups and went out. Shots could be heard from camp, prompting others to head out between showers. But then it happened, Saturday Afternoon the clouds lifted, the sun came out and the gophers were everywhere. It's been a long time since I experianced that good of a shoot. I know I wen't through alot of ammo Yesterday Afternoon, I only hope the others burn off alot more today!
The way to camp:
The fire that didn't want to stay put:
Andrewe lining one up:
Some of our companions:
My wife discovering her first cow patty:
The camp:
And our camp gaurd dog:
Tripalm taking his Brno for a walk:
Off in search of the rain:

Saturday's afternoon shoot:
And Tripalm thinning out the gophers around camp:
It was a blast and there's talk about doing it again next year. Good luck to everyone still out there.
