Still not ready.. at least not the 223. if I get a chance tomorrow I am going to try 4 loads.. if one gives me a good enough (for now) group I will load the other 170 loads up...

No loading again tonight..
I have to get them done tommorrow or friday for sure because I work the only other weekend before the big weekend...

I'd like to shoot some on paper before I get out and have to actually hit thing in front of people with it...

Got out to the range wearlier this evening.. was windy (around 25-30). But I tried the loads anyway.. best group was only 1.25" (5 shots) worst was 3|!! So I think I am going to try some 55g bullets.. since I have nothing local, I am going to pick up some factory ones to try.. if they shoot well, will have to order some 55grainers..

WSS had primers today. I'm set for a while. Good thing, I was getting worried. Now I just need some Varget. I'll give Higgonson's a try in the morning. How long does powder stay good anyhow?

I have so much loading to do and haven't even settled on a load yet. The .22 is shooting so well I've been slacking off the centrefires.

Two weeks to go.

Are you running maximum charges? Try slowing them down a little.

I'm headed to the farm to camp out for the weekend and make a preliminary scouting report :D

Going to leave tonight or early tomorrow morning.

If anyone else wants to come let me know! There is lots of room!

Oh, by the way! Baby gophers are out! Woohoo!!

So if you wanna come for the weekend Pm me ASAP!

Its taken me a lot of work to get where I am at with my tikka.

What powder have you tried?

My friend has a 223 and uses benchmark. Shoots great.

At $30/lb or more, I am not going to buy tons of powder just to try it.. cheaper to try different bullet weights that use the same powder first.

I don't have the powder in front of me, so I don't know it off hand. I do know it was the only IMR powder listed for the 40g Vmax in Hornady's manual.

I expect with my 1:9 twist a heavier bullet will work better anyway...

I jsut don't have the time to play with it right now.. If I did I would fool around more.
