I just got my Chaparral NWMP 1876 in the mail yesterday and I was at first impressed with such an exciting looking firearm. The finish is nice, the wood is nice and everything was tight......too tight in fact.
Levering the gun I found it was so tight it seemed like something is bunging up the action. Upon closer inspection I found that the receiver sideplates either were sticking out and not fully in, although at this point I can't verify whether or not its because they are too thick or were just not installed correctly, I will have to see tonight when I get home.
In addition to that, the dust cover should be actuated by the levering of the gun however after working the first time, the bolt seemed to somehow 'miss' the dust cover and everything got bunged up.
I am lucky enough to hardly ever have problems with my firearms, and those that do are usually the ones that are 100 years old, however from a new gun I have to say the out of box workmanship is a little......worrying.
Anyone else have any experience with a Chaparral?
