Don't beat yourself up. We've all done it. I bought a Chiappa lever off the shelf because of the look. Worst POS ever. Yours may turn out just fine. There's been thousands of them sold under various names.

Be prepared for significant recoil though!

Appreciate that! I'll be sure to brace for impact, only planning on running birdshot through it, was gunna be strictly for rabbit hunting (as long as it works)

Ill have to take that on the noggin in part with me not doing my research like I have for my two previous firearms purchases, wont be cheaping out again thats for sure. I was mainly just concerned about the gun being unsafe and unpredictable, if I can get some use out of it ill be happy at the price range, I just dont want to end up in an unsafe situation with a brand new gun.

You don't have to buy super $$$, but paying a little more goes a long way.

i got the o/u in 410 gauge
no problems with it - never had a light strike
the trigger although heavy gotten used to it now
overall in my opinion the Charles Daly isn't as bad just don't drive a ford expecting a ferrari

I know youre not supposed to but I did pull the trigger and dry fire it once because I was curious about the trigger, and it did have a heavy pull which for this situation I was somewhat relieved to feel. I'll see how it does with the federal 20ga birdshot I picked up with it in the future.

I had 2, and currently have the short barreled 12. Coarse, yes, gross trigger pulls, yes, lock up action screw needs to be tightened up after about 30- 40 rounds. Cheap truck gun and bang stick, kind of like a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. You use it when you need to. About 250 rounds in on each one, light strikes about 5 times in total, primarily when it's loosening up or dirty- and only with the garbage challenger buckshot. Caution to ensure that you re- #### the unit when it is broken open, or you will shear the firing pin on closing as I saw happen at the range with another dudes model 101 last summer. my .02

Much appreciated on the info, could be getting myself a little overly cautious about it considering I haven't tried mine out yet personally, I did just contact a seller in my local area about their H&R 48 20 gauge, which from the photos looks to be in nearly mint condition, and has a rubber butt plate installed from factory. Claims it's collector grade condition, so I will consider that if I have problems with this 101. Probably should have just went for that off the get go but it is what it is!

My wife has an older 410 version of this, and it has an "interesting" system, where the trigger pull AND the firing pin are affected by the same screw. In other words, if you have a 10 lb trigger pull and turn it down to a really light pull weight, you'll immediately have misfires/light strikes. Turn it up, and you'll have a heavier trigger pull, but no misfire/light strikes. This was my experience anyways. YMMV.

If easy enough. I’d like to see what you mean. This shotgun is tucked away at the back of the safe right now. So knowing what im looking for or what im looking at before I dig it out would be incredibly helpful
