Chat GPT ????

If you have to double-check AI's results, why bother with AI?

Edit: IDCAY beat me to it.
Ok, let's see the example - you have a project in mind. You want to analyze every aspect of this project and plan the execution. You are also considering different complications and would like to get the the most comprehensive plan. AI can help with this and possibly give you considerations that were out of your focus. Then you can drill down and confirm technical specs by yourself.

Here is the most basic( basic!!) idea - plan two weeks in Italy ( or Zimbabwe if this is your jam) by yourself and try with Grok or chatgpt and see how long it will take. You just need basic understanding of LLM and prompting .

ChatGPT 4 would give load data which seemed to be biased by forum posts, not published load data. Its answers didn't seem to consider COAL either. I found the results were often that the Starting load provided by ChatGPT 4 was actually close to the book max in most manuals.

Fast forward to last week, and I tried ChatGPT 5.... It wouldn't even provide any numbers.

AI has its uses. If you work a job in a technical field and aren't investigating incorporating it into your workflow, then you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. It's a lot like a firearm, A powerful tool that is bad when it gets into the wrong hands.

You catch on quickly.
I have multiple BSc degrees. 🤷‍♂️

To build a solutions that need a little bit of tuning. It's not an all or nothing scenario. AI can reliably guide you in the right direction and explain along the way all the stages step by step. Specifically chatgpt chatgp have a knack for simplifying things that you never tried before.

It also can quickly provide you you a jumpstart when traditional instruction are foggy or complicated.
Load data is an all or nothing proposition, when the wrong data could cause the gun to blow up in your face. Have you ever experienced a separated case head? Its not exactly fun.

Reloading is not something that should be simplified for newbies. There are basic rules that should be followed and for bloody good reason. You will be creating a small explosion quite close to your face. You and only YOU should be making the decisions as to what goes into that recipe.

There is nothing foggy or complicated about basic reloading. There exists 100+ years of experience and data in books. There is no need for a computer to be interpreting that data for you in a black box manner.

GOOD, It friggen should not.

I Dont Care About You - Yes, absolutely .

In this case, yes đź’Ż agree. My point was that there is no need tinfoil hat when it comes down to AI's. Just another tool.

I'm wondering if anyone ever declared google search as spawn of the evil forces.

In the dawn’s pale hush, the hunter sat still,
Brass casings gleamed like frost on the hill.
He’d asked his new oracle — wise, electric —
“How best to reload?” in tones synthetic.

The screen flickered truths spun out of dreams,
Data ghosts whispered in tangled streams.
“Trust me,” it said, “prime deep, pack tight —
Let faith be your powder, your barrel’s light.”

So he followed the words with reverent care,
While code-born whispers danced in the air.
Belief became bullet, conviction—his crutch,
Till sparks met steel in a kiss too much.

Thunder bloomed. His world went white.
Fragments sang through the morning light.
When the smoke drew thin, and silence fell,
He learned that faith can burn like hell.

Now in legend’s echo, the forest knows,
Where once he stood — no hunter goes.
For truth, it seems, has a cruel motif:
Trust a ghost, and you’ll learn grief.

And somewhere, still, that voice persists,
In circuits humming through data’s mist:
“Reload complete. Integrity: fine.”
But the man left more than shells behind.

- Chat GPT; poem about hunter trusting AI for reloading information
Hard to believe AI uses double spacing between paragraphs. That's like the slow kid in grade 3.

AI can guide you in the right direction, and more so if you are asking nontechnical questions. Reloading is fairly technical.

Chat GTP can occasionally send you off in the opposite direction you should be going, and apparently can fabricate answers out of thin air with no basis in reality. Weve seen examples of that here on CGN.

Do you use ChatGTP much? It's like a kid's toy compared to what AI is, or will be.

I use it in my line of of work to get rough drafts of solutions and then, tune it up to my needs. I will not go into technical details but saves me a ton of time.

I predict that the biggest fact checker for any future AI will be an old man or woman with a life of common sense using their own natural gift of real intelligence.

The ONLY way AI will get smarter is if those people contribute to the world book of knowledge

You know when the Blk. Hawk Helos are circling overhead and the Limo tinted windows on the blk Suburbans are parked out front of your house things are about to get really exciting for you.
It is not because of AI It is because they already have the information they want/need to come knocking on your door.
lol you're missing the point. They're going to be getting their data from Plantir and the data centers.

Plantir has been tasked with collecting and consolidating every citizen's data into singular accessible database. This is new and not exclusive to US citizens.

I got the point, the paranoia runs deep and the government is here to help.
Some scary words .

I was talking to a junior high social studies teacher who uses some AI generated material in her classes. She says a quick proofread of the AI generated material is a lot faster for her than actually writing the material herself.

How much longer will schools need human teachers?

A big issue, imo, is that it requires even less use of your brain. Writing that material is more time consuming, but I believe that type of exercise is important for brain functioning and health. What are the long term effects of not working your brain? I don’t know, but I bet it’s not good.

Chat GPT is terrible for making mistakes while handling technical data.
Technical data can be either

Smart devices make dumber people.
