Looking for a cheap hand pumped pellet rifle that can off pests like mice and squirrels.
What pellets are efficient for this ?

Thanks

Those cheap pellet guns from princess auto will do just fine. I shoot mine at 25 yds and goes through a beer can. You may need to adjust the sights a bit but it will work. They are around $40. Gun show is a place to buy. even new.

If you are serious about getting rid of your mouse problem, get a couple of those black plastic mouse traps from Canadian Tire (Predator?) and use peanut butter for bait. We had a vole problem a couple of years ago and I was getting about 2 per day for a month (mostly at night) then we never saw them again.

do it in vancouver and you will get a visit from the SWAT team! They take issue with killing squirrels , you are taking away the pest controls job!

It's for the cottage up past parry sound
Squirrels and mice have found a way into the attic

So any BB gun that shoots faster then 400fps will do it ? No pellets eh?

You would be best using traps, they work round the clock for you. I like using the 5 gal pail & water with a pop can smeared in peanut butter across the top of the bucket. When the mouse tries to jump onto the can from the edge of the bucket they fall in and drown.

You can use a pellet gun and it will kill them just fine . Its really your choice . If shooting from a distance I would go with one around 400 fps but at close range just about any will do . I've noticed that the bbs seem to kill them right away . You don't want them scurrying off and dying in a wall . I'm thinking rat traps are a better solution to your squirrel problem .

I've used rat traps for squirrels in my garage. Kills them well.
You have to find where they are getting in and repair it, or the next family of squatters will just move in.
Mice can fit through a tiny hole, and trying to shoot them would be frustrating. There are YouTube videos of British guys shooting rats with air rifles with night vision.

Thanks guys
Need to rid the cottage of pests this spring. I left traps out but I figure sitting around with a BB/pellet rifle will help to

I went with a Ruger Blackhawk 1000 fps air rifle. It's a Chinese clone of a Diana 34 and it is a good rifle for $160 including the scope and rings.

I'd also go with the peanut butter on the popcan over the water bucket as well.

Thanks , is it a pump model? I want one that I physically have to

Just keep in mind if you are shooting them inside your camp,a +500fps air rifle will drive a .177 pellet through the rodent(mice especially) and into whatever is behind it.
A good idea might be to use target flat nose(wadcutter)pellets, they may give you fewer pass through troubles.
Good luck!
