Cheap trail cameras at TSC

I have three, getting good results although one of my dad's just stopped working.

Check out my wolf hunting thread, pics in there from the cameras. The only concern is that in really cold temperatures, with only 4AA batteries in them they power down and off. I put my Bushnell trophy out with 8 AA batteries and pulled this am, it also temperature stamps the photo, with the WGI camera. It hit -32C this week, the Bushnell took pics, the WGI turned off last Sunday. I think the cold saps the batteries to the point where there isn't enough juice to run the unit.

They work fine in summer and fall, took great pictures at our deer property last year.

This must be a local sale? Didn't see them in my flyer (I checked a couple times, still possible I missed it I guess) Model # fellas?

Even if it is a local sale, you could try purchasing it from the Peterborough store and pick it up at a local store. If not, purchase from Peterborough and have them shipped.

I picked up a wild game innovation camera last fall for CT. It was on sale for $90-100. It worked great all fall and in to jan. Tons of pictures but the one thing I didn't like was the field of view was a bit narrow. Season two is the one were #### cameras crap out.

First caveat - any grade 9 shop class student probably has more skills than me, but...

Being bored with lingering winter and waiting for turkey hunting season to start, I thought I would put some boxes together to protect the cameras from bears as I had happen last year on our deer hunting property.

Someone was throwing out a big piece of 3/4 inch marine grade plywood at work so I grabbed it. Went over to gunner410 shop and ripped the piece into 3 3/4" stripes. Cut as per the following pictures for the back and the sides, used gorrila glue and air nailer and put these together. Used up some old paint and other plywood scraps for the top, so the only cost was the hinges and hasp to put on the top / side for a small padlock. I also drilled two 1/4 inch holes in the bottom to let water drain out.

Wasn't worried about being waterproof as the cameras already are, just wanted something to screw onto the spruce trees to keep the bears from swatting the cameras. Fooled around yesterday with some paint, doesn't look great but what the hell....

Bears can smack those off trees just as easy as the camera itself. I used an old metal ammo box and the bear ripped it down and played with it for a while. Crazy pics of teeth and claws and sky and ground
My wild game innovative cams have been out year round for 2 full years. 1 even got submerged for a day and a half in a flood. Still works

Bought one last fall. Put in lithium batteries and it was still working on the original batteries up until I took it out of the bush at the end of February. Black flash, no red glow. Great cameras for the price. Going back to pick up a couple more.

Ok - you may remember this post from a year ago. My homemade boxes stood up well to the bears and I ended up buying another camera in June from TSC.

I wrote the CEO of Wildgame Innovations today to express my extreme displeasure over how Wildgame Innovations in Grand Prairie Texas handled my trail camera that I had returned for warranty repair in January.

I had written a detailed letter on how I had bought the camera in June 2014 from Tractor Supply in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. The camera had worked well all summer and fall, but when I was using it for wolf hunting this winter, I started having issues with the filter not retracting on night photographs. I carefully packaged the unit in a small box, and wrapped the camera in bubble wrap. Anyone on this site that has bought something from me knows that I take a lot of care packaging items being mailed.

I received the camera back last week in a large cardboard box with the words “Sorry, out of warranty” written in marker on the outside of the box. There was absolutely no padding or protection of the camera in the box to prevent any further damage to the camera, meaning it banged around inside the box all the way back from Texas to northern Ontario. The US Postal Service had attached a label to the box apologizing for the damage to the parcel! I haven’t tried the camera since I received it, but I have no faith that it will work at all now (at least it took daylight pictures before).

Needless to say, I was upset about the warranty issue, but the lack of any regard by WGI staff in the handling of the camera when returning it to me really makes me question how much care and control goes into the workmanship of their products. I own 4 Wildgame Innovations cameras and on a recent business trip I bought 2 Moultrie cameras at Cabelas in Barrie. I will never buy or use any of Wildgame Innovations products again.

While I realize that my actions will not affect the company’s bottom line, I did post this information on this site for your information.
