Please help!

I find myself with a little extra cash at the end of this month, and I would love to join the 'AR Club'.

I have been looking around a bit, and the only reasonable AR I can find is one from Wolverine for about $1210.

I am looking to buy a flattop that I can drop a RedDot onto.

Can someone point me towards some places that I can buy them from (and have them in stock) please?

If you want to get into the AR club, 1200 is the going rate, prices just go up from there. Only cheaper one I've ever seen was from Armalite for 1050.

cheapest in quality= Norinco
cheapest in price = Remington ( $900?)
cheapest "real" one= see above post regarding armalite

Buying a Norinco doesn't put you in the AR club and for some reason ARs don't drop below 1200 bucks used. I saw an old colt a2 with the barrel completely shot out for 1400. What garbage i thought. Buy new from one of the forum dealers and you can't go wrong.

You could just buy the lower now, and save up for a nicer upper later.

See I wouldnt be opposed to this idea .. but I have NO idea how to put lowers and uppers together. To add to this, I am not entirely sure what all the differences are between the varients of the AR class.

Do I need to worry about different manufacturers between the lowers and uppers?

Can I buy a good quality lower from wolverine for a good price?

Assembling an upper and lower is trivial, but I recommend buying the whole rifle at once.

I bought a lower before my upper to spread out the cost and it just about killed me waiting to buy the upper. It looked so sad and pathetic sitting there in my locker until it had an upper to go with it....
