Check out my "NEW" LMT!

Perhaps it is time to file a complaint with the US Department of State for Questar's violation of export permits. They are the only dealer selling American short barrel 5.56 NATO chambered rifles...I'm shocked that the other dealers who are not able to haven't shut them down years ago. I'd hate to see the avenue closed but Questar should be shot for treating you in such a s**tty manner. I wonder how the staff at Questar will feel being banned from the US...

Isn't everything from Noveske and LMT marked as "5.56"?

I sincerely doubt they are violating their export permits, as they would have more then likely been in trouble for it by now.

So, gonna screw it on or send it back and wait?

I'm not sure if I have much recourse at this point. Questar didn't make me feel like my concerns were important, and the words "we're sorry about all this" or "we're sorry for any inconvenience" have yet to even enter the equation... Even LMT apologized and said "no problem, we'll take care of it" (they actually sounded a little embarrassed when I described the condition it arrived in).

You know, as much as the condition that it arrived in bothered me - it was the whole "we took a picture of it, it seemed fine to us - so it's probably just you" attitude that really left a sour taste in my mouth. I mean, I've done my share of deals on the EE - and I couldn't imagine disclosing any minor or perceived flaw just as a matter of conscience (let alone good business practice).

So I'm basically left with a marked-up and potentially flawed (although not necessarily severe) product, from a stellar and reputable manufacturer - and I have to deal with an intermediary that probably now abhors any emails or phone calls from me (even though I thought I tried to handle it fairly amicably). It hasn't leave me with that "warm, fuzzy feeling", to be certain.

Maybe that's the thing that frustrates me the most: you'd think that spending in excess of $10k over the past few years would warrant a bit more of an effort on their part in trying to find a happy medium...

wow man...that is brutal.... I can tell you that of all my LMT stuff i have, (LMT308MWS included) i have never seen anything in that kind of pi$$ poor shape out of the box. I know that LMT would not let that go from they're assembly floor, so I would put this one on Questars shoulders. I know i recommended this rifle to you and would do it again, but i guess i should have added the "questar factor" into the equation....sorry about that..

edit: talking about Questar, how is that Scar16 you purchased from them a few years back running?

Don't sweat it man. My first AR was an LMT, and the LMT308 was recommended by pretty much everyone I talked to. Fortunately, the actual rifle is arriving later this week from a very honourable seller (NIB, unfired) that I did a trade with on the EE. Barring any initial warranty issues, at the rate I shoot it should last a lifetime (or at least outlast Questar).

The 'phantom' SCARs you mean? ;) After exhibiting almost 2 years of patience I finally opted for a refund over the Winter... I guess they couldn't blame the non-delivery as a warranty issue for FN, although they did still try the aforementioned 25% restocking fee.

Looks like my old sks after leaving it for a couple weeks after pounding hundreds of rounds of corrosive.

I bought few rifles and accesories from Questar, and every time what came in the box is what i ordered and in normal condition.

After reading 6 pages, I, as a customer need a response from Questar.

New means New
New doesn't mean rusted

restocking fee for what??? air? i remember in 2009 i posted a thread called "Canadian's can say goodbye to the Scar" and Mark threw me under the bus for being a rumour mongering troll..

he never did apologize, oh well...

Was mentioned earlier...talk to your credit card company.

If I paid for new, I would expect new.
Not what you received.

And Questar has been off my "approved" vendor list for a long time, ever since they asked for copies of my PAL, Driver's license and entire family tree just to purchase a magazine.

If by "nice", do you mean "new"? ;)

It's not so much the exterior, but the 3-4 gouges in the chrome lining on the inside of the barrel. How it arrived in the box should've been foreshadowing...

Oh well, the interior damage is a show stopper in my books also.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. This kind of situation is never fun to go through. How in God's name could they ever charge you a re-stocking fee on an item of which you never received? I hope you laughed at them when they tried to tell you that.

I never followed the SCAR importation deal. I take it Questar never did deliver the goods?

Just because they could, I guess. Once everyone found out that was pretty much the end of that, though... "Canadians can say goodbye to the Scar" would be true... if only we'd ever said "hello" in the first place. It's not so bad being thrown under the bus; it's being thrown under the 'short bus' that I take exception to... ;)

Thanks. It's never fun to go through in the best of circumstances, which clearly these aren't... Actually, I wasn't directly told of the restocking fee (I learned of it from other buyers), otherwise there would have been a few colourful metaphors that probably would've earned me a few infractions... Not as far as I know, but I think there are a few still holding out hope on the SCAR...
