I opted out of a hunt last night because of some other obligations, and man am I regretting it.
My brother and some good friends went out field hunting for some ducks and the 4 of them were 3 birds away from their limit but only recovered 17. It was the kind of night that a dog would have really been an asset.
The best part is that they shot the white duck I showed pictures of during the early goose season. I don't know if any of you will recall the pictures I showed of a white duck flying into our decoys while goose hunting but we had it buzz our heads a couple times and hoped it would stick around long enough for the season to open. Sure enough, they went to this field tonight and in it came. Despite the flock of well over a hundred mallards, two of them unloaded on this one bird. Take a look at the pictures.
You can see it's size matches a mallard so I don't think it is a domestic.
But you can clearly see it is not an albino
Is it perhaps a piebald?
There is one black spot on it's back which you can't see in any of these photos.
Any ideas what it is?
