Well my 50mm scope is mounted a bit too high for me to be able to comfortably rest my cheek on the butt of my 700, so I'm looking into getting an adjustable cheekpad. Which would you recommend? It would be nice if it doubled as a cartridge holder.

Can you not use lower rings or a diff. base/ring set? Agood cheek"weld" is important to accuracy and I don't believe any material with "give" will provide as stable a cheek "weld"

No. I have a +20MOA base and the rings and base I got work quite well, only problem is that it's a tad too high; if I get lower rings I'll be bashing my knuckles quite a bit (the scope has a lot of eye relief so it's mounted fairly far forward). What also doesn't help is that 700P's have no cheekpiece of which to speak. I know there are some decent pads out there somewhere!

Rohan,
You might want to check Karsten custom camo -do a google search

He is a rip off off the Rooster cheekrest. We should keep $$$$$ in Canada if at all possible.

I have mounted Rooster cheekrests on Rem700s with no problems, and they are adjustable.

I think he is gone......many have tried to get ahold of him....we need a new Canadian maker

I would guess anyone that had some heay Kydex a heat gun could make one and take it to a fab shop to have the slots milled in it and final shape cut

Kydex !?! so that's it!, it should be easy enough for almost anyone to make their own, just heat it around your stock to get a marrage and some careful cutting and filing to make the slots and you're off to the races.

Why not get an adjustable cheekrest installed. I saw a 700P with 1 on another forum. It looked like OEM, but HS told me that it was NOT theirs, when I inquired. The work was done in Calgary it turns out.

Perhaps a strap-on would suit your needs and budget? These are well made and are available in left- and right-handed models.

They aren't as tall or adjustable as the R33 style but don't require modifications to the rifle stock, and can be used on more than one rifle. If you need more height you could probably tape or glue some dense foam in or under the pad.

Rooster is back up and running. I just built him a new computer so he can access his emails after his laptop crashed and burned a few months back. PM him and he should get back to you. I'll be talking to him tomorrow as well and will see what he has for stock.

There's a guy on here (I think it might be Noah) that makes kydex knife sheaths (Hungry had one made by him). Doing a copy of Roosters cheek rest shouldn't be a problem. You might have to source/improvise the adjustment knobs though.
