Chiappa Little Badger Mod Project - Holy Moley....

Grey squirrels in my area are gone. Chased out a few years ago by red squirrels, which I hadn't seen in over 20 years. These red ones seem to be half the size but twice as aggressive. Black squirrels still seem to be doing well enough, despite my dog trying to correct that. Once in a while when they try to get into the roof or garage I have to pull out the pellet gun to deal with them.

TY... bought 3... y not

I bet many of us Chiappa LB owners would love a Springfield M6 Scout, but they are just too pricey now.

The price is a problem with them now. Even though I have a Scout I still wouldn't mind owning a Badger. A remake of the original all metal Scout, at a decent price, would go over very well I would think. I picked mine up for a good price, in like new condition, but wouldn't pay what they go for now.

B.C. invasive species month, May 2017.

It's true. IIRC it was some lonely Scotsman pining for the fjords and highlands who 'introduced' them.
Two years ago we were nearly overrun by them. We had the Scots Greys (aka "Old Grumblers" (size of housecats) and the smaller, more agile "Black Rangers". It was war. By summer's end I'd pegged off 23 of the blighters. Finally I murdered their Queen by placing bait out in the meadow just at the treeline. I didn't have long to wait--one 38g .22LR just behind the ear and it was lights out for her. I felt kind of bad because she was
such a fetching young thing, but that was key to our victory. No more came after that, despite my friends warnings about how "Nature abhors a vacuum", and so on.
The expected Spring Offensive never materialized in 2016.
Now we've got a couple young Rangers and one small Grey scouting around on recce, but so far no "reconnaissance in force".

Do not confuse these species with our local (native) little RED SQUIRREL. We nurture these little scamps as their antics can be most amusing. They are protected here. The other two are officially listed as "pests" so it's always "open season" on the Greys and Rangers. Bushy-tailed rats.
Good hunting.

Machman-- Bagged any more bullfrogs lately?

No more bullfrogs have appeared in the pond, but I will be vigilant.
Thanks for stopping the invasive squirrel army from moving North Island!
Regarding other invasive species, I've also been battling Scotch Broom & Spurge (Daphne).

[ END QUOTE ]......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... My weapon of choice has been my old Weirhauch HW80 air rifle. With 12 grain .177 pellets [900fps] ,They die instantly with head shots at up to 30 -40 meters.I also trained my Manx cat[best cats for rats] to hunt them. She chased them to no avail.I showed her to hide on their foraging trail and she killed scores. Some were almost as big as her.She ate them all except for the tail.We found her stash of grey tails [semi buried]one day and it was quite heap......Nice to know someone else is shooting these Grey Tree rats, as well, here on the Island.
