Chiappa Little Badger Mod Project - Holy Moley....

I've shot some .22lr's in a .22mag lil badger and the cases didn't split but the accuracy was not great.

And my main reason for getting one would be for small game hunting while on a big game hunt, so accuracy would be important. Plus, its not like i can really use 22shorts and 22mag with the same sight zero...

.22lr is perfect for small game when your carrying a center fire rifle as well. I didn't really play around with the LR's in the Mag much but from what I did shoot it's not really worth it is my opinion at this point.

I have been thinking about getting one of these ever since I originally saw one ... For the guys thinking of firing 22lr or 22short out of a 22mag chamber I wouldn't recommend it in general but I have heard of people cutting empty 22mag cases to make a sleeve that will fit over a 22lr case to chamber in a 22 mag I haven't tried it myself but they say it works and solves the split case issue . I wouldn't try it in a repeater but a break barrel single shot might be a good test platform... I would think you would get brutal chamber fouling if you shoot a lot of the shorter cartridge kind of like some of the old cooeys that were shot a lot with shorts back when they were cheaper than long rifles shells

.22LR is loose in the chamber and even the extractor will skip past the rim of an unfired round from what I recall. That said, I doubt you could slip a .22LR into an empty .22mag case and chamber it. Wrapping a .22lr CB or Quiet with an appropriate amount of foil tape to shim the case would be an interesting experiment...... :)

Edit, well according to the internet people are using fired .22mag cases to make a sleeve.... more experiments.... :)

This thread and the link at the top made me put my order in a couple days ago. Should be here Tuesday. The paired Bushnell trs25, however, should be here tomorrow :) I saw one in the EE, did my homework and bought a gold lettered one on amazon. I don't plan on going silly, but I might paint it. Has anyone powder coated one yet? Could leave an empty brass in the chamber and tap a pulled bullet into the muzzle to keep the crap out of the barrel? the rest of the tolerances are probably loose enough for a layer?

You sir won't be disappointed with the gold letter. I have several trs-25s that I put on my .22lrs and they all are gold except one. The difference between the gold and white letter versions is extremely noticeable, it's sad to see a good thing come to an end. That being said my white letter one is on my little badger as it's my cheapest .22lr but still does what it needs to regardless.

Got my trs in today. Ordered the 731303 bushnell trophy version, box is marked 731303 on the side, graphics show gold lettering on the box. Sight has white lettering with the laser at maybe 5 o'clock? Don't lose the dot at any angle it's still visible in the window and it's sharp and very clear. Guess the lettering isn't the only indicator anymore?

Perhaps it was the initial batch of whites that were bad. Mine loses the dot before reaching the edge from 9 - 12 clock position, the illumination knob doesn't click into each setting but rather has a soggy movement that cuts out the dot between positions and the dot isn't actually a tight dot like my golds. My white letter definitely came in a package with a white lettering unit pictured on the box, so I find that interesting in your case. My last gold letter came off of Amazon a couple months ago, but I did read some people were getting whites instead. Anyways glad to hear they may have fixed all the issues I just stated because the comparison between my examples shows one far superior.

They probably caught and corrected the problems, my dial is stiff but definitely clicks. Either way, when I opened it and saw I was disappointed, but examining it against what I have learned from 10 YouTube comparison videos, etc, I think I feel fine with it.

I just can't wait for the little badger to show up!!! I'll put my vortex viper 4-16hs lr on it to test ammo types to see what it really likes then screw the little trs on it for good.

I had my .22 magnum version out today pinking up the mountain behind my house, and was surprised at how well it shoots and handles.Nothing chintzy or cheap about it, and with it's sweet trigger and decent sights it is quite accurate up to 80-100 meters. It's so light it kicks a little with the Win Super X 1985 fps rounds. The Very easy clean up afterwards, makes this a very simple practical little gun.

I filed my front sight blade to a fine edge. Makes a big difference with repeatable accuracy. I also removed my wire stock and formed the comb more so that when in a folded position the barrel makes contact with the stock to reduce the footprint. Prior to receiving the rifle I had intended to replace the sights with steel sights due to feedback from others but mine are very solid and it is not a cheap plastic... it is glass filled nylon. I have a great deal of manufacturing design experience so am very familiar with glass filled nylon and it is extremely durable. I am quite pleased with them so will be keeping them. More mods to come.

Get to take it out today. Looks cool with the trs-25 on it. Girlfriend thought it was a cute little pellet gun, then was excited when she learned it was fine for grouse.

Awesome, report back with after action thoughts. I still haven't gotten a chance to take mine out, however I did jump on the paracord bandwagon and got mine all wrapped up in od green.

does anyone know of a karambit with a kydex style sheath that would fit inside the stock?... preferably made from 1095... or something along those lines (no 440 steel)

I shot my Magnum version today.Quite accurate at 100 meters once I got the open sights dialed in.They have to be slid down to the lowest position or it shoots high at 100m.I'm lucky to have a backcountry range 10 minutes up the mountain from me on Vancouver Island.I get to shoot almost every day.
