I mentioned in another area of the forum that I had just found out that the
Chinese are in the prosses of changing over to a "new" bullpup assult rifle. Even though this may be "old news" it seems there are a few of us out there that didn't realize this had happened... Anyway for those of you that were in the dark about it, there is a good artictal in "Combat Arms" about it, and here's a link as well, with some info on it:

The interesting thing I read about this rifles, is that they don't really have a reciever as such. The bolt and trigger mech are more or less just "wired" to the barrel. What looks like the reciever is just a covering to keep the dirt out.

So are you only allowed to be right handed in the Chinese military?

Hmm... you'd think they'd learn from the fiasco that is the SA80...

Definitely has less of a eastern block feel to it than the AK it's replacing though...

In answer to your question about being right handing, the short answer is "yes". It seems to be a bit of a culture thing about anything left handed in this part of the world. This was mentioned in the artical I spoke of, and they just plan to train all the lefties to shoot right handed.

Screw the UN! Maybe they should let the Chinese go in and sort out some tin pot dictatorships that are so called "members".
The rifle doesn't appear to be anything spectacular, and appears to have some ergonomics problems sighting plane being the most serious that I can see from a pic.

Yeah the scope is mounted really high, I wonder how do you hold the rifle when aiming through the scope...Also how will they deal with ppl with a dominant left eye, I am a leftie and I know I can't shoot with my right eye for ####...:(

I would suggest that this rifle is probably easily converted to left hand shooting. It appears that the ejection port cover could be closed and the left side opened, al la, AUG, without much effort. Along with the extractor and ejector converted, I think it would be a quick fix or conversion.

Cocking handle in the middle, similar to the FAMAS, AR mags, M9 bayonet, and a G.L.

Probably couldn't be confused with any variant here in Canada, stock integral for function, hmmmm, looks promising for import.

Hey, I just talked to a major import company down east and they said they may have some in, by the end of July.

I think the company was Vandelay Imports and Exports.

Southpaws are all deviated individuals anyway, to clumsy to do anythig but be musicians or artist and can't think clearly like normal people, besides, someone in the chinese army has to cook, do the laundry and paint the sidewalk perimeters white.:p :p :p I agree with Koldt, the chinese leave very few stones unturned and why would they do something so obviously foolsh as to make a firearm suitable for right (thinking:p ) handed soldiers? bearhunter:D
