Chinese 7.62 x 39 ammo.

I have some ammo I just bought from ThingsMilitary and was wondering if it's corrosive. The link doesn't tell me if it's corrosive, just where it came from. The ammo has brown casings (steel?) and the numbers on the headstamp are 21 (on top) and 79 (on bottom).

If anyone could help me out I would be really grateful.

I explicitly asked the guy where I bought it from for NON-CORROSIVE. He said yes, and asked for a credit card number...

Edit: Also, the cases are not really brown but more a silver. The primers are a brass colour unlike the casing or bullet.

Here are the pictures. Unfortunately, I had to use my webcam as my digital camera is broken. If it isn't clear enough, the numbers on the headstamp are 21 and 79.

Thanks, Chris.

Having shot an extensive amount(1000+ rds) of the MFS with 21 79 and 21 78headstamps, I assure you it is VERY corrosive. I was also tricked into buying it as non-corrosive by a local company with a banner on this site. It rusted the #### out of my sks gas tube and chamber. The later stuff with 84 or 87 stamps and red primer sealer is non-corrosive as far as I can tell.

I agree, ive been through this before.

Certain dealer sold taht MFS stuff as non-corrosive. I bought a whole crate.

Shot some rounds, rusted up BADLY the next day. Complained...they did nothing, told them to change their false advertising, nothing.

But anyways, yes the Hungarian stuff, contrary to what anyone will tell you is HIGHLY CORROSIVE.

Oh lord please let a boat full of cheap norinco non-corrosive silverbox come in soon!

PLEASE!

The chinese stuff shoots crap in my SKS, some of the bullets even keyholing. The Czech stuff shoots great, but it's dirty.

EVEN better! I WANT MORE WOLF HP 7.62x39!!!! Or more of that brass cased delectable south african!

I dont want to shoot it, because i cant get anymore.

You can buy all my crappy MFS for half price, hell ill trade anyone my crappy corrosive garbage for decent manufactured non-corrosive stuff 2-1 ratio.

I dont like the czech stuff, its the only 7.62x39 that ive seen misfire.
And not just once either.

I have picked up 800 rds Norinco 7.62 x 39 ammo in the gun show today. They are non-corrosive and manufactured in 93 and 94. They are steel cases with brass primers. Some of them in silver boxes and some are in blue and white boxes, fmj and soft point. I 've been told that brass preimers are mostly non-corrosive and dark colour primers are corrosive. Is that true ? I am very pleased with this purchase and l wish I could buy more.

This MFS stuff sounds way worse than the Czech stuff I've been using from Lever. I only shoot at most, 100 round before I break down the SKS and give it a clean. At the most I'd leave it overnight and its not too bad the next night to clean up.

I was thinking of trying MFS next, but maybe not. I only found Norinco 762 once at a gun show, and they only had 100 rounds, er I only had $20 to spend :( :D

I kept one box as it may be the last one I can get :(

Silver box is NON-CORROSIVE. Brown laquered steel.

Copper wash is milspec surplus as far as i know and IS corrosive.

I have some of that. Headstamp 71 90. I also have some Norinco in green cardboard boxes, 71 87, says non corrosive right on the boxes?

Plus I have a sealed plastic bags in stripper clips in white cardboard sleeves, no idea where that came from, marked bxn 83.
