With 7.62x39 I imagine the AP part is pretty weak, but the I would make it interesting.
There used to be lots of 7.62x54R API around. It had pretty good performance, allegedly.
only an idiot would shoot off banned ammo.like we don't have enough problems with firearms ownership, all we need is more bad press.
I heard that the silver boxed Norinco were pretty decent performing AP...not sure if that was just an urban legend of sorts.
Those were sold some 15 years ago maybe?
What's in the country is all we have left.

how so, fresh imports are not allowed
I just saw the recall was updated and has more pictures now. Apparently prohibited ammo, I wonder if there’ll be a ban on ammo imports now in the name of safety. I’m glad that Score shotgun ammo is made just a couple hours away from here lol, not sure if Canada has other manufacturers of centerfire/rimefire though?

It's not.
While the majority of Chinese and other surplus 7.62x39 has a steel core, it's mild steel. Steel jacketed, steel cored surplus leave less of a mark on an AR500 plate than 55 gr. lead core .223 at the same distance.
