Chinese MC-5D SKS Questions

Sooooooooo I just acquired from my best friend a completely un-fired Chinese MC-5D with 20" barrel. I have a couple of questions regarding the rifle though. First off, I understand it to be one of the rarer ones out there and am curious about the relative value. Second, how does the quality of Chinese made SKS's rank up against Russian built ones? Also your MC-5D isn't nearly the same as the regular Chinese sks's. It was made in the 80's probably and I find mine to have great quality.

The stock looks nicer and i'm sure the balance is also better with the shorter barrel.

The few D models I've seen are cheap junk made for export.

How is it better than a SKS-D?

Quality of machining, fit and finish. Both take AK mags so all there is otherwise is how good they were made. The MC5D's I have were machined and made much better than the "D" I had.

Mine is a '94 manufacture and from everything I can tell, destined for California before the AWB was passed. I have two minor gripes with the fit and finish so far. One, the rear part of the trigger assembly doesn't sit flush with the stock and two, the gas tube assembly's fit around the lower wood stock is pretty rough. Other than that, looks great, heck, it still has the original cosmoline everywhere on it. Thanks for the help crew - very much appreciated.

That is pretty bad! I went and looked at a few of my Tulas by taking off the receiver cover and recoil spring so that I could look down at the
hammer. All of my Tulas have a fairly nice finish to all those surfaces except my 1950 which I shoot a lot so that there is wear from sliding.
Should I expect to see milling that is that bad, on most SKS-Ds?

Keep in mind that these are rifles made for commercial sale - they are not military surplus.

Mine is no where that bad, But I can see the milling marks as well... But its in a spot were it cant be seen unless taken apart and doesn't affect the function...

My SKS-D is no were near the fit and finish of my Izzy....

And why does that SKS-5D have no mag well ? is it missing ?
