Is there a difference between the chinese sks and the russian sks? I can buy a chinese one for 180 or a russian for 225 at my local gun shop. is there a difference in quality between them?
How can you distinguish the standard Norinco SKS from the Chinese military issue SKS?
Thanks Dwiwy. Now, why are the PLA versions better than the standard Norinco's?
PLA issue will have 3 Chinese characters by the ser#
I don't think it's that straight forward because current Marstar's "military" SKSs have no Chinese characters next to serial number. Does it make them "non-PLA" and thus non-military then?

Then what factory/year this recent Marstar rifle is ???No, Marstar has two factories's guns that I have seen. 625 and 306. The 625 guns are PLA, but are late mfgr and do not have the characters. The 306 guns are from a different factory but do have the characters. They are military though, straight out of depot stores.
I have owned both and much prefer the 306 - I use one as my shooter SKS now.
What about bayonets? Do any chinese come with blades instead of spikes?
AFAIK the only Chinese SKS's that came with blade bayos were the early (and rare) Sino-Soviet SKS's.

As for year of manufacture who know's for sure. Only Factory /26\ marked ones can be dated. I'd say from the look of it Factory/625\ built it. Might even be one of the sanitized for Nam versions. Too bad they pinned through the 0 on it. I'll put the bat signal out for Howie, maybe he can shed some light on it for us.

Thanks Woodbeef...
who's Howie?![]()
