chrome bore CZ 858

OK FOLKS;
Short barrels will be available in the future....

We do not have any plans to make the long barrels available....

BIGDAWG has it right, you can't simply unscrew and replace barrels at will....

There are issues that will arise when doing that. As I said before one of the reasons we are "late" in introducing our long barrel version was that we needed time to correct such minor problems as cracking receivers, damaged bolts and carriers.
We solved the problems, but it is not a simple thing....

Of course some will say we simply want to sell more guns.... Remember we have a warranty policy to support, we can't afford to put out a problematic firearm.
John

Never heard of the cracking reciever and damaged bolt assemblies problem on long barrel VZ58 models. Care to elaborate?

DAR 701;
It has happened, in our tests we were able to recreate these problems.... That allowed us to study the causes and come up with the required solutions....
This does not mean that every long barrel modified weapon out there will suffer that fate, the simple fact that we observed some and were able to recreate same led us to do our homework BEFORE putting them on the market.
Anybody out there who has played with SA and FA weapons will know that you cannot simply change barrels and expect everything to be fine....
John

So what was causing the cracking receivers? Was it excessive barrel whip under FA fire? Was it an improperly sized gas port? Where were the receivers cracking, how were the bolt assemblies being damaged and what changes were made to your rifles that the CZ858 Tactical 2 rifles are lacking? I have a couple of these (858 Tactical 2) and would like to know what to look for.

DAR 701;
Well now,the cracking is very obvious,it would crack near the hinge pin....
The bolt would show damage to the lugs....
Wrong size gas port was part of the problem....
I cannot speak for the other producer, I have no idea off what changes (if any) were to done prevent any problems.
All I know is we spent a lot of time and money to come up with our final version, one that we could be comfotable offering to our customers and still have our warranty in place....
All that said, please don't brand me as rude but I would rather not disclose what design changes were made when we had these rifles produced.
Best Regards
John

Any chance of bringing in parts kits in the future John?
I'd be interested in the kit that was avalilable that had everything minus the barrel and receiver.

Glad to see they got the minor problems ironed out!

Hi John, I'd like just the new chrome 858 with a folder and no extras for $400.00.
I'd also like a $100 parts kit.
While I'm at it some more info on when the AIA 7.62X39's will be for sale would be appreciated.....
If you really want to throw in an extra I'll take a scout mount for an extra $50 bucks.
Thanks!;)

Hope you didn't think I was being an abnoxious prick here I was joking about the $400 folders and the $50 scout mount, but I am interested in a parts kit......

I'm also interested in an update on the 7.62X39 AIA's even though it's a little off topic.

Thanks?

CAN-DOWN;
Why would I think that ?? We may offer kits later on....
The AIA rifles in 7.62x39, we hope to have them market ready in a couple of months
Regards
John

$650 is a great deal considering most places sell the regular bore 858 for $650...

I gotta hold off on this puppy though. I just bought a Ducati 748s and that's where all my money is going at the moment haha

Well, I have to be honest, I still would have bought the milspec length rifle if I did it all over again today. I love mine and only ever range shoot it anyhow.

I just wish mine had come at the new lower pricing! I bought my vz58S when they were first available with all the goodies and (thankkfully since they are sold out) folding stock - but I paid more than what they sell for now. Maybe close to $100 more if I recall?
