Hello I just ordered a Churchill 206 Trap, I have never owned a gun with ejectors, I have borrowed a few and I am not a fan, for me it's easier pulling shells and tossing them in the bin than shooting them into your hand. I do plan to shoot the gun for a bit with the ejectors in tact before I make any mods but I am curious if anyone knows what the process would be to change the ejector to just an extractor? is it something I can do at home with a few tools or is it best left to a smith?

from what I have read some people say to shorten the ejector spring so it doesn't hit as hard and won't pop the shells. (some say this is a poor way to do it)
some say remove the ejector catch and related parts so the ejector never catches and doesn't pop the shells.

Anyone have experience? Like I said regardless I am going to shoot it a while before I do anything, and if I do decide to make the mod I will have the replacement parts in hand before I do anything.

Thanks

Not sure what to do on a Churchill to convert from eject to extract. I've been catching hulls in my hand for so many years that it's second nature to do so and really doesn't take too long to become a habit, I see new shooters do it all the time.

I think my thing is I like to load the shells with my left hand which leads to me switching the gun through hands alot if I am catching shells with the right. I will try forcing the habit of loading shells with the right.

I'd still be interested to know how to deactivate the ejectors.

I wouldn't cut the springs, but you can always buy a set of weaker springs of the same dimension and swap them out. Im sure you’ll be able to find springs that you could make work for your want to do

Yeah I see what you mean.
I know right handed guys who catch shells with their left hand but I don't like the way that they open the gun with the barrels unsupported by their hand, seems really hard on the gun and makes me cringe to watch.

see that's where I differ. I keep the grip in my right hand, crack the gun with my left, full grip on the barrels. and then grab the shells. I'm not fast at it, I don't see the reason to be, I get to think about the shots either how I messed up or what I did properly.
