I just go with a Dewey coated rod and brass pierce style jags with 2 inch round patches. I am too lazy to cut my own patches and the 2" round patches are snug enough in the bore to do the job. And you don't have to #### around with patches that are too tight or too loose. If I ever use a bore brush it is a Dewey nylon brush. Foaming bore cleaner takes all the work out of cleaning.
I only clean when the groups open up so here is my cleaning method.
1. Wet patch with Shooters Choice solvent, and run the patch back and forth down the bore for 4-5 strokes.
2. Run three dry patches down the bore.
3. Squirt foaming bore cleaner down the bore
4. Have a rum and coke.
5. If bore is really dirty have another rum and coke
6. Dry patch 3-4 times
7. Wet patch with Shooter Choice and run it down the bore 4-5 stokes
8. Dry patch 3-4 times
9. Have another rum and coke
10. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 9.
I've seen him get stuck on step 10 a number of times ..... but it seems to work
