Cleaning your handguns

Curious how often everyone here cleans your pistols? I was doing it every time I came home from the range. But I have a 1911 Kimber .45 that I decided to shoot until it fails. I now have 4250 rounds without so much as a single spray or wipe. No failure to feeds and no stove pipes.
How many rounds have you gotten through a pistol without cleaning it? :eek:
 
I have yet to clean my glock since I got it... I dont waste my time cleaning my guns... Do you take apart your engine every time you start your car ? I think not...

I had to clean my GSG 1911 when it started to act up... all I did is spray it down with carb cleaner...

About 500 (BB course)

I don't always clean my guns after every range trip, but don't like to go too long either. Main reason I do it because I don't want to get a lead poisoning from fondling my guns in between range trips.

I clean the extractor and oil the rails and barrel after each range trip.

I clean the barrel after 500-700 rounds.

I do a more deeper cleaning every 1500 rounds or so. Like in the feeding ramp area, trigger bar etc...

I fail to see how using something meant to clear up a minor STD can remove gunpowder buildup. :D :p
 
Cleaning eh? Hmm, I'll have to try that some time.

In all seriousness, I'm pretty hard on my go to gun (CZ75 SP-01) I've probably put over 2000 rnds (at least 700rds of that is MFS!) through it since its last "Cleaning" I make sure its lubed but wont strip it until it gives me trouble. Everything else I clean ever trip or every other trip at least a basic amount. I just love punishing my CZ for some strange reason.
 
I only clean them when I'm bored. It relaxes me. However it isn't something I do on a regular basis.

I don't get out shooting often either so that has a lot to do with it.
