Hey guys,

I got my tavor a couple weeks ago and have tossed about 100 rounds through the pipe. Anyways, I've always been pretty anal about cleaning my guns, making sure I get all the carbon and residue out of everywhere. I find that with the tavor, I just can't access most of the dirt near the gas tube area just above the chamber. Is there an easy way to clean that spot?

I know it's likely not essential as it is a true battle rifle, but my gun cleaning OCD doesn't like seeing it dirty. The chamber is also a little tough to clean to my OCD standards.

Is there an easier way to clean those spots, and also is it even worth it to do so?

Also, how often do you tavor owners clean your rifle?

Thanks!

I share your OCDness with my Tavor too. Recently heard about Froglube and Fireclean. Not tried either yet. Always used copious amts. of Hoppes and a nylon brush and Q-tips. Scrub for hours! .223 is a pain to completely clean well. I clean even if I put ONE rd thru the gun..(which I don't usually do!) so I hear where you're coming from! Tagged for interest!

I just clean the BCG, barrel and anything I can reach after each range trip, using the large bush to wipe out the gas tube and brush the inside of the gun.
Every couple of months I completely tear down the gun and give it a through cleaning, made my own wrench from an Allen key using a bench grinder, works great.

Been using froglube on it since I got it new. Switched over to fireclean last week, both a great products, way better than other cleaners I have used.

That's prob what I'll do. I just don't like seeing all that black carbon in the gas tube. It gets my OCD cranked. Lol
