Okay, so I'm out at the range, just trying to get my nice new M-14 on paper. Elevation was a snap. Windage is my problem.
I've got an M14S with and ARMS#18 mount, ARMS#22 throw lever rings, and a Bushnell 4200 6-24X50 which I got a great deal on in the EE.
My problem is that even after maxing out the windage adjustment, my POI is 7 inches right of my POA. Given that I was shooting at 50 yards in order to get on paper, that means a 14MOA correction. If I'm going to shim, I'd actually like to make a correction of something more than that, as I want to be able to adjust windage in both direction when I get out to good distances.
What's the appropriate fix for this? Do I need to remove my scope mount and shim between the body of the mount and the receiver? Shim between the rings and the mount? Shim between the rings and the scope? Call Bushnell for warranty? None of the above?
Other than the windage issue, I had a great day at the range. Both of my M14's (one new, the other new to me) ran like champs and digested their diet of SA surplus without a hiccup. The Kahles scope that I've got on my AR right now just blew my mind in terms of clarity and brightness.
