Milsurp FAQ

Why don't we have an FAQ for milsurps? Maybe something like this:

Q) What do you guys think of modifying my k98/SVT-40/No.4 Mk1T into a sniper/dragunov/sporter?

A) Please take your rifle, which you are admittedly entitled to do whatever the %&#$ you want with, and go visit the sporting arms forum and talk to a guy named Bubba. He'll give you all the advice on devaluing your milsurp in the most expeditious way possible. This forum is for milsurp enthusiasts who consider these items to be of historical value. Your question is akin to asking classic car collectors what they think of lowering a pristine '65 Mustang and adding some real nice rims. Thank you and have a real nice day.

Because last I heard you were not supreme overlord of the universe. Therefore unless your handle is greentips then mind your own business. These forums, all of them are for the free exchange of ideas. You are in no position to tell anyone where to put anything Even if the OP had posted it elsewhere it would have most likely been moved here by a mod. We live in a free society, I know this because three generations of my family bled on foriegn soil to ensure it.
 
Elected me god? I don't know, maybe I'm just the messenger for the majority of people who actually frequent this particular forum. If you really want to discuss bubba'ing your rifle I can't stop you but I can certainly tell you that you're being an ass if you do it here. That's why I would love to see a vote and an FAQ so that low post count guys can stop and think before they come in here talking about their cool dragunov clone or butchering another K98. Calling someone like Skirsons a "troll" in this forum just shows a deep lack of respect for the subject of milsurps.

How is calling skirsons a troll (which he surely is) showing a "deep lack of respect for the subject of milsurps" Is skirsons a milsurp?. not likely seeing as he is still in military service. And low post count? you are calling the kettle black, pot?. I will tell you the same as i told skirsons If you don't have anything nice to say then use your manners and say nothing. your holier than thou attitude is wearing a little thin.

no ......just showing off your lack of charity and manners, but I digress. Still waiting on the OP to respond on the price. I have some great ideas for a project. Now I just have to find 50's era scope to go with it.

+1 Exactly. This forum is not for people who want to destroy milsurps. It's fine to discuss it, but not with people who appreciate them. Take it to the sporter forum.
 
I've got a scrubbed , bubba'd small ring Danzig manufactored 8 X 57mm K98 that I'm outfitting with a SSR mount & Kahles scope.
500 $ worth of scope & mount on a freebie rifle. Crazy,eh? It just seemed like the thing to do.
But if you are getting in replica scopes I'd be interested as well.

I don't think you know what a troll is.

I also don't understand this attitude "if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything" this is not some 12 step support group where we give each other pats on the back for everything. If subconsciously you feel guilty for drilling your collectible rifle and I am bringing up your defenses, just f-ing grow a pair.

If you don't understand why If you don't have anything nice to say say nothing then i don't really know how to explain it to you. It is one of the most basic rules of polite conversation. go to wikipedia and look up troll. I have nothing to prove to you skirsons. your childish attempts to gain an emotional response from me are a waste of your time and bandwidth. Seriously though 24 hour campfire would suit you much better personal attacks are the norm there.
