Closest Kill Shot

About 15 feet, Young Bull Moose with a 308 Norma Magnum. He never heard the shot that killed him. No need to use sights at that distance. Eagleye.
 
about 4 feet .....it was a dear mouse that had been eatin all the crackers .....ps it was in the cabin with a 22 ..

I could go one better , take pics, but I can't post 'em, took some of my bubba claro stocks, can't post those either, just gotta learn it :rolleyes::(:D
Anyway , wood is Yew, grows under the canopy of the old growth forest in the mountains of BC, 3500-4000 ft altitude, a tree 8 inches round, can be very old, 100-150 lines per inch , lines are years.
You leave the sap wood on , backing, quite a process, 4 to 7 years air dried indoors, split logs with wedges etc, spokeshave tool of choice for stock removal, and tillering. bows are long 68-72 inches, and #60-80 lbs, depending on many factors. Cow horn nocks on the limb tips, function , and art in one, flemish twist string...

Gotta love that yew. I have about 50 good staves in the garage:D
 
Was sitting in a saddle between 2 ponds 3 years ago, doe goes down the left hand gulley. Shot her @ 21 yards. Hear a bunch of grunting, along comes my buck stops so close to me I could have grabbed his leg. Raised the 444 sideways both arms extended to chest level and shot him roughly 18" from the muzzle. He was so distraught that I nailed his girlfriend he did not know I was there. Never even took a breath but then he had a 270 gr. speer gold dot through his boiler room.
 
Shot a wild boar at about a yard. Thing had no clue. Shot it with a recurve, the arrow had barely left the string....
 
I shot a whitetail buck with my dad's 30/30 lots of years ago.
I couldn't tell the distance but it must have been almost muzzle contact.
He came out of the pine trees to my left at full speed and it was a "shoot or get run over" type of shot.I didn't even have time to think about using the sights.
The old 30/30 had blood on the barrel after the shot, and the deer fell dead right at my feet.
