Hi all,
I am new to the site and a bit unfamiliar with how to do an
Accurate search on a subject.
I am having a heck of a time finding a club who is accepting
Membership.
I am interested in pistol as well as rifle (short and long range)
Anyone able to help me out with any info or suggestions?
Preferrably in the clarington area but not real picky at this point.

Thanks in advance!

Bobbyg00.

Hmm long range rifle in Ontario you say?

EESA 300 meter range taking members
Twin Cities 300 yards waiting list for membership, and the membership cap is low
Galt 200 yards last i heard it was at least a 1 year waiting list
Oshawa 300 meters not taking members, no waiting list
EOSC 200 yard, and I hear they are working on a 100/200/300 yard, and a 700 yard range. There is a waiting list

Anybody got one I'm missing?
If 200 or 300 yards (and possibly waiting) there are some options.
Alternatively If you're any where near CFB Borden/Barrie come shoot with the Ontario Rifle Association on Mons range. Precision Rifle you get to shoot snaps, movers, and deliberates from from 200 to 800 yards, or F-Class and shoot at 800 and 1000.

As far as I know, Orono is only accepting new members with a referal from an existing member. I don't know about Union.

It's worthwhile looking into Peterborough. I wouldn't suggest driving to Kingston but if an hour's drive isn't too much there is the excellent Lower Trent Fish and Gun Club near Trenton.

Thanks all for your reply's ! It is appreciated.
I'll have a look at the clubs you have suggested.
I've spoken with oshawa, Orono and the union rod and gun.
Unfortunately, news was from from all of them.
I definitely don't mind driving an hour to find a club.
Again, thanks very much.

Thanks for your reply. I'm currently a CSSA member but am thinking about also joining the ORA.

Try Peterborough, Union, or Orono, While you wait for a club to join, try to pad you resume. What I mean by that is Join the CSSA, and take their club level range safety officer course. Also get certified in some other shooting disciplines like through the ORA or IPSC Ontario

The reason I advise this is because most clubs are looking for experienced shooters. 1st come 1st serve doesn't always come into play. Look at the websites of the clubs that you're trying to join for when their AGMs and membership renewals are. Most clubs determine their space for new members after that. So keep a close eye, and good luck.

Google Ontario Rifle Association. Shooting at Borden out to 1000 yards, Kingston to 600 yards, Winona to 300m and Cedar Springs 300m.

Lower Trent valley fish and game club

^^^ YES! They take new members.
I just signed over from my old club to LTV in July. Excellent club. Highly recommended.
To me, it's a 260 km round trip, but it's worth every inch of it.

Rifle ranges 50m, 100m, 180m.
Handgun ranges 25m, 50m.
Skeet, trap and sporting clay ranges.
Bow range.
Indoor handgun range (24/7).

My wife and I have often discussed getting our PALs and a couple of .22's for fun & education. Neither of us grew up with a lot of exposure to firearms, but both held an interest and thought it would be a great hobby to share together, and in time with our children. To that end we are signed up for the non-restricted safety course in November at Buckeye in Uxbridge.

I have to say that the lack of reasonably local ranges has really been a damper on the enthusiasm for us.
