That desperado over/ under looks interesting, and it does have ejectors. However I'd like to get a SxS since thats what I'm used to. I'm currently using a savage/ fox 311 cut down to 20" and its great, just want a gun with ejectors.
As for chokes, I don't want any, just cylinder bore. From my experience its much more useful than just "room clearing" (although I've never done that ) For real though, my cylinder bore 20" double has been absolutely awesome on knocking down flushing grouse in thick to moderate cover. If you've hunted spooky grouse you know that the action is fast and furious, there is no "swinging" the gun, you hear the grouse and start shouldering the gun, when you glimpse him you pull the trigger just as the stock hits your shoulder. The wide pattern is what allows success, and it only takes one or two #8 pellets to knock them down, they are very wimpy birds. No problem out to 30 yards or so.
I also carried that gun grouse hunting/ deer scouting last fall. On the way back the trail to the truck along came a bull moose (during the rut) He stared me down and I spent a couple minutes trying to scare him off by yelling and firing birdshot in the bushes beside him. I was kind of tense about quickly reloading and wanting to quickly put slugs in if he charged. Hence my desire for ejectors in my shotgun for wildlife defence scenarios. (luckily the moose did run off)
