C&L, buddy, that linkage ROCKS!
I'm gonna go find me an old busted press just so I can get you to pimp it! :D
Nice job, and very nice of you too!

Ok, the first person who ships me an empty box and asks me to make the whole d*mn press gets beat!

On the other hand, maybe I can retire and make replacement lee parts....:runaway:

Yeah!! Well... you know.. that's a little like owning the most souped-up volkswagon beetle on the block, but yeah!!!
don't tell my boss, midnights was slow that week

LOL!! Well it was a very nice thing to do.

jealousy jealousy....

I once saw a Volkswagen Rabbit, with an Infinity G20 engine in it....let me tell you that few people did not wish they owned that car ;)

The arm that attaches the press to the handle could be made from 2 straight pieces of steel like the Classic cast linkage. It doesn't need to be one piece...

If I'd had the whole press to work with I could have simplified the set up, but working with just the broken parts and some dimensions I didn't want to improvise too much as it would result in mailing stuff back and forth several times, this way I knew it would work when the parts arrived (mostly:redface: ) If someone wants to donate the entire press, I'll redesign the links for them......:D

You can borrow my Challenger for a while if you really want to do this. I'm going to be moving in a couple of months and my reloading room is torn apart right now so I won't be using it anytime soon. For what its worth, I'm pretty sure I bought it from Frigoman, is there something about this press I should know about? LOL, just kidding, had it for almost 2 yrs now with no problems.

Hell, if you want to play with a press, I can send you mine. It's sitting in a box right now. It's a fine press, if it were not for those damned links, I'd be using it more often.

Is it the same style/model of press? What the heck, if you want to send it down for me to play with, pm me for a shipping address. Anyone with that avatar can't be all bad:D

Cocked&Locked, I have a unusual question for you.
For operations such as drilling, tapping, cutting groves, etc, which ones are more time comsuming and costly?
E.g., is drilling and tapping more timeconsuming than cutting a large slot?
Sorry that question is badly worded, I need help with this please.

The drilling in taping is quite fast. The reason the two piece link took as long as it did is that I played around and did it on a cnc mill as a learning project, so about half of the time is playing with the progaming system:redface: . There's less then 30 minutes in the drill/tap/reaming that I did on it, and about 15 on the pivot link. Any manual machining will take longer (ussually) then anything that can get set up on the cnc machines, but it's not as much fun. I could have programed the pivot link and been done much quicker, but the machine was busy and I had nothing else to do that night anyways:redface: . Cost is a factor of tooling and time, and this was such a small project that there was very little tooling wear incured. (I sharpened my drills before starting, the inserts in the cutters where used when I started and still good when I finished. The material was off cuts and scrap from other work. Same as anything anymore, the cost is time, but in this case I was able to toss that in for free:D

well I resized a few cases and this press has tightened up quite a bit. Pretty awesome upgrade :dancingbanana: Any left-right movement that used to exist with the factory handle/links is now gone. ;)

A person mentioned to me he was particularily impressed with the stoned edges and the overall finish. How did you clear off the edges and polish it to a mirror finish???
