I'm gonna go find me an old busted press just so I can get you to pimp it!![]()
Nice job, and very nice of you too!

Yup, I have the baddest challenger on the block
don't tell my boss, midnights was slow that week
Foxer said:Yeah!! Well... you know.. that's a little like owning the most souped-up volkswagon beetle on the block, but yeah!!!
Hitzy said:The arm that attaches the press to the handle could be made from 2 straight pieces of steel like the Classic cast linkage. It doesn't need to be one piece...

John Y Cannuck said:Hell, if you want to play with a press, I can send you mine. It's sitting in a box right now. It's a fine press, if it were not for those damned links, I'd be using it more often.
BlastingChipmunk said:Cocked&Locked, I have a unusual question for you.
For operations such as drilling, tapping, cutting groves, etc, which ones are more time comsuming and costly?
E.g., is drilling and tapping more timeconsuming than cutting a large slot?
Sorry that question is badly worded, I need help with this please.
Cocked&Locked said:The drilling in taping is quite fast. The reason the two piece link took as long as it did is that I played around and did it on a cnc mill as a learning project, so about half of the time is playing with the progaming system. There's less then 30 minutes in the drill/tap/reaming that I did on it, and about 15 on the pivot link. Any manual machining will take longer (ussually) then anything that can get set up on the cnc machines, but it's not as much fun. I could have programed the pivot link and been done much quicker, but the machine was busy and I had nothing else to do that night anyways
. Cost is a factor of tooling and time, and this was such a small project that there was very little tooling wear incured. (I sharpened my drills before starting, the inserts in the cutters where used when I started and still good when I finished. The material was off cuts and scrap from other work. Same as anything anymore, the cost is time, but in this case I was able to toss that in for free
