Yes. They do.
I've seen one refurb with a 1948 date receiver cover. Have pictures, but was too dumb not to buy it.
Wow, fence........ that was stupid!!! Lol, just kidding, hindsight is 20-20

There are 45, 46, 47, and 48 examples in russian museum.
I FEEL your pain!! My thoughts on passing on a couple of the 49's that went to others here on CGN, before I bought my 49. And I narrowly missed out on Jaques's 53 Izzys to join my Non refurb 54 Izzy. I hate Hindsight!!!hindsight is 20/20 for sure. It was hand engraved on the top under the tula star "ckc-45 1948"
Really? All my research tells me the ones in the museum are early examples but have no year stamps on the receiver covers. Also no pictures can be found on any forum or webpage of 45-48 years sks'
I like any year SKS if its a nice clean gun. They are not a super rare collectable in my mind but more of a fun entry level collectable.

It looks like a 1948 cover on a later rifle going by the take down lever. Still THAT is RARE...
And don't forget, hanging 2 pounds of crap like flash lights, lasers, range finders and other assorted Darth Vader tacticrap makes it priceless.
Seriously, most people consider the unrefurbished, used (by the military) to be worth a bit more. Other than that, if you remeber the Pokeman craze,,, need I say more?
