collectible sks

I enjoy collecting them, although my collection only consists of 3 currently. A Non-refurb 1955 Tula, a Refurb 1954 Izhevsk abd my shooter 1954 Tula laminate. I had a few more Tulas and a Chinese SKS, but they have all gone on to new homes. I will be looking for a Chinese SKS with Chinese markings on it next and then maybe a yugo. I'd like to have as many makers as possible.

sorry doesn't exist. The design was completed in 1945 but production didnt start until 1949.

They actually do exist... They are the pre production models that saw very limited action at the end of WWII, however, us westerners will NEVER see them. They are tucked away in Mother Russia, never to be released. They tested them from 1945 until they went into production in 1949.

Wow, fence........ that was stupid!!! Lol, just kidding, hindsight is 20-20

Hindsight is 20/20 for sure. It was hand engraved on the top under the Tula star "CKC-45 1948"

It was heavily refurbed and not matching. Blade bayo, ###xx stock. But the receiver cover was very unique. And it was in a stored lined up with the rest of them. All typical refurbs.

yes. They do.

I've seen one refurb with a 1948 date receiver cover. Have pictures, but was too dumb not to buy it.

There are 45, 46, 47, and 48 examples in russian museum.

I FEEL your pain!! My thoughts on passing on a couple of the 49's that went to others here on CGN, before I bought my 49. And I narrowly missed out on Jaques's 53 Izzys to join my Non refurb 54 Izzy. I hate Hindsight!!!

I like any year SKS if its a nice clean gun. They are not a super rare collectable in my mind but more of a fun entry level collectable.

Really? All my research tells me the ones in the museum are early examples but have no year stamps on the receiver covers. Also no pictures can be found on any forum or webpage of 45-48 years sks'

I am thinking it was a '49 mis-stamped 48... I have a '49 missing one side of the fletching on the Tula arrow...

I've got pictures of a 1948 dated SKS. Held it myself. Certain Russian members of this forum have stated they have been to the museum themselves and have seen them.

1948 marked receiver cover on a heavy refurb.

And don't forget, hanging 2 pounds of crap like flash lights, lasers, range finders and other assorted Darth Vader tacticrap makes it priceless.
Seriously, most people consider the unrefurbished, used (by the military) to be worth a bit more. Other than that, if you remeber the Pokeman craze,,, need I say more?

LOL! You two guys crack me up.
