Never owned a ar, my local gun store has a colt ar15 sportsman for sale for 1400$ one clip, and some old sight with a dead battery it is used, and 15 years old.. Hes also got some stags , imperial defense, and rock rivers for sale but he said he'd go with the used colt over any of the new ones, the stags and rock rivers were so light and felt like a toy seems cheaply made, but the colt was almost 2x as heavy as the others, i think it had a 20'' barrel but the guy said he take the colt over any of the new stuff anyday, he kept going on about the colt were the original makers of the ar and how awesome they are, is he pulling my leg and trying to just sell it and get rid of his used one? Or is it actually a good gun and is 1400$ an ok price for 15 year old gun? Let me know what you fellows think i would really appreciate the feedback let me know!!! If its a good buy!
Thanks everyone
Thanks everyone

is it cause it weighs alot more than the new ar's? It is a colt sporter thats all i know! 15 years old, the thing is i want an ar for some accurate shooting, something simple and hopefully low maintenance the only knowledge i have of guns is simple teardown and cleaning nothing more, the new ones i held several times seem to turn me away, they a soooo lightweight and fell like toys made of all plastic the colt has a good weight and feel to it, maybe im blinded by this old piece of junk?, or maybe it is the gun store owner trying to convince me that this colt is a better piece compared to the new stags and mp 15's? I am very interested in this one...do alot of these older colt with 20'' barrels come up for sale in original condition? All i see is this modified new $hit with all these rediculous add on's what do u guys think?
