Colt Canad to sell to Civilians ?

If Diemaco/Colt Canada started selling semi auto C8's on the civy market there would be a ton of orders. I know I would buy one.

I really don't understand Colt/D-co's rational re. "allowing" someone with "credentials" to buy their product.... 'Sounds a bit snooty to me.. The only credetials one hould need is a PAL....
I guess it just goes to show their corporate attitude that somehow their product is only good enough for certain people.... Good for Colt.

Colt Canada is potentially a gold mine for Colt unless somehow the Gov't ####s it up. With no US State Department restrictions or Licencing agreement tie ups, Colt Canada can service the military and police market outside the US, and the Civilian export market as well.

Just sent this to their email address. WTF, might as well get the official 'No-Way!' ;)

Hello,

I am a competitive Service Rifle shooter currently using a 16" Armalite M15A4 for competition. I would prefer a 'made-in-Canada' rifle, and I'm interested in purchasing a semi-automatic only version of the Diemaco / Colt Canada C8 Carbine.

I would appreciate any information on pricing and availability of these rifles. I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Sparky, buy 2. They may need your credentials, but I don't think that you would require credentials of that sort to sell your legally acquired firearm. From the sounds of it, you could auction off the second rifle for a tidy profit!

Haven't been here for a while, but I saw this thread....
I have a Demaico for work, and a personal Colt 6920(wish it was the 6921...).
The only thing I like better about my Demaico is the barrel length, 1.5" shorter than my Colt.
Other than that, I think the things I've done to my Colt make it better(and heavier, and more prone to snagging, and more suceptable to equipment failure, blah blah blah).
Yes, you could say the Colt is essentially the same as the Demaico, but it could be a Bushmaster, Armalite, RockRiverArms, DPMS, etc.

Magpul M93A2 stock, MIAD grip and trigger guard, single-point sling attachment, GG&G vertical foregrip and A2 BUIS, Knights RAS, ACOG TA31 and Aimpoint ML2(both mounted on ARMS throw-lever mounts).
Shot a 3.25" group at 200m prone with the ACOG(not great, but ok), and up close with the ACOG or Aimpoint is awsome.

I think it might be the 'can't have one so want it' factor, like a Ducati 999R. My RC51 is close enough in performance that the difference would be the rider. But the Duc costs almost 4x as much, and there aren't many around. So I want it!

Just my thoughts on the subject.

Funny I remember you off BCSB, especially the pic of you, how shall we say it, "christening" a certain American motorworks symbol... It was bloody fantastic stuff ;) Tanya (if by chance you remember Tanya/WeeOne) said you were working at YVR last I heard, still? Sounds like interesting stuff.

Keep in mind that ANY Colt Canada product is treated the same as Diemaco was and is required to be approved by the US Department of State -- the license clearly spells that out.

Colt and Colt Canada are owned by General Dynamics - good luck on customer service

The response from Colt:

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately Colt Canada does not sell into the civilian, distributor or
wholesale market.

We do appreciate your interest in our company and our products.

Sales and Marketing Coordinator

About what I expected. Too bad - I want one.

There's a Ducati Dealer on West 4th Avenue in Vancouver:D
