I've seen your collection I believe you!
As far as I'm concerned Colt Canada ARs are the top of the line tools for murderin' freedom haters. I seen one blast through 70x 30rd mags on full auto one after the other. (Also a good way to start a fire) $2000 bones for an upper? I'd be very surprised if the military pays anything close to that. Maybe once we're invaded and I need one at home i'd drop that kind of cash on one. Anyone who does buy one though won't regret the quality that's for sure.
I am totally convinced that Colt Canada rifles are top tier.
We've got some beat up rifles in our armory, and we've also got some that are just at the beginning of their service life. Some of the rifles that are put through BMQ and BMQ-L (where candidates gouge the $hit of the chambers and crowns for morning inspection) may not shoot all that great, but I was blessed with a minty C7A2 that was probably a virgin before I got it, and so far, it doesn't appear that it's ever been handed out to a Cornflake to rape on his basic.
I'm not a very good shooter by any means, but I tried out for our unit range team a few years ago (and was politely asked to not come back, lol!) and for the first time ever, I shot out to 500m. During that serial, I got all ten shots on paper, and some even landing in the bull. No sandbags, no free float barrel, no bipod, no muzzle brake, bad eyes and the 3.4x Elcan, first time ever shooting out that far with any firearm. When I qualify every year for my PWT 2and use that rifle, I'm always able to place all 5 rounds under the small orange indicator, anywhere I'm aiming. (CSS guys don't often get a chance to do PWT 3 unless there's a really good reason for it).
Again, I'm not a good shooter by any means, but my mind is completely at ease with that rifle. Two years ago on my PWT 2, I so confident in my rifle that during the zeroing session, instead of aiming for centre mass, I aimed for head shots between the eyes of the Fig 11. All 5 rounds landed between the eyes under one small indicator. The RSO told me I was shooting high and actually called down to butts to confirm I actually shot 5 rounds. The next serial, I changed my point of aim for a crotch shot and the RSO asked me what happened. All 5 rounds landed where I wanted. I was blown away because normally, I'm a $hit shot.
That year, I sprung for an SA20 under the IOP, never looked back. Last year, I picked up an IUR and used it in my first and only three gun comp. The rest of the team I squadded with were awesome shooters, I was totally lost and hand no idea what I was doing, but when it came to those 100m and 200m shots, that IUR came through for me. (they never asked me to come back again either, lol!)
Folks might here me *itch and moan about civvie prices for Colt Canada products, but only because I can't afford it, lol!
I am a firm believer that they make excellent rifles.
