Colt Canada Information Thread

Interesting, I wonder if they kept some kind of list of which serials were sold as what exactly.

For logistics, historical & management purposes, I'm pretty sure they do. They must know when & whom handled a specific firearms/part in case something goes wrong down the road.

DB suffix serial numbers are SA run guns.

The stripped lowers are being transfered as sa15.7 or sa20 lowers through the CFP according to one dealer. They have the DB serial number as well.

Other semi auto lowers have a different letter suffix. DS for example with some police issued guns.

Another dealer has been quoted as saying 100 stripped lowers were released. That would be a 10% in addition to the 1000 complete SA guns.

These are marked DB as well

The ~10% is the error margin in case theres any defects and the product doesn't meet QC specs. They have to make more just in case. That's obviously why we see those popping up right now. Whether they are factory rejects or left over who knows, I would love to know tho...

My work issued C8IUR has the DS suffix and was manuf. in 2012.

The "basic" patrol configuration seems to vary widely from agency to agency. I've seen 5 different configurations from 2 municipal agencies, the rcmp and correctional services canada.

Pretty cool actually. The iur is built to suit depending on the agency. Full 3,6,9,12 rails, some with rail panels like your etc etc.

I'd really like to find that A1 style sight. Just for the collection. Hoping they find some surplus to release.

Yeah, I've seen almost a dozen different setups in the last couple yrs. Pretty easy to set it up to the operator's liking. But for some dept., internal policies will forbid any mods while others will be able to tune it to their liking.

I meant the actual base platform that agencies buy. Not the personal tweaks one might make if allowed. I've seen 4 different variations of iur itself. Different basic design variations from CC themselves depending on the order.

That doesn't include the iur that was released to the public. That is another version again. It would be cool to have a picture library for comparisons. I might add it to the roll mark thread if I can find pics.

All the variations I saw were directly contracted from CC. From the flash hiders, rail covers, IUR setup, sights to carry handles & stocks. Add-ons were not taken into account;)

My strip unmarked lowers are # 0045* # 0045*

Registered as SA15.7's

One member here has an Sa15.7 marked lower with serial # 0100*

Either these did not pass Q.C for complete riffles or They just made more in case they had issues while building them.

DILLIGAF,

Your unmarked lower # 0045, would that be the first 4 digits of the serial number? Trying to figure where in the production run my unmarked lower fits in.

with stripped lowers coming out I hope cc comes out with more bcgs. Complete. I am definitely picking one up, maybe more ;)

The first three digits are always 140. The next four digits show where the gun fell in the production line. 1400001 would be the first and 1401000 would be the one thousandth.

IIRC Matt (from CC) on the now defunct CC thread, stated their were at least #25 different IUR set-up's that had been produced for LEO Departments/Militaries; with respect to their specific orders.

BTW that's a nice CC you have access to Harry, I quite like it.

Cheers D
